Now this is what we've all (well some of us) have been waiting for - a decent sized electric estate car. People of a certain age (a group that I definitely fall into) like taking stuff to the tip and nothing beats a proper estate car Many of us have been forced into large electric SUVs which are fine but not very efficient (ICE or EV) and we'd much prefer to be in something like this No offense to MG Motor AE but the MG5, which is a great car and you get a lot for your money, doesn't have the required boot space or range. The only other electric estate option is the recently launched BMW Group i5 tourer which is in a completely different price bracket to the ID.7 It's also just an ICE conversion and not designed as an EV and so you get a drive train tunnel which seriously restricts the leg room for the middle seat in the back and has less boot space than the ID.7 (570 litres vs 605 litres seats up) As with the Saloon / Fastback it will come with two batteries - the, now standard VWG, 77kWh (useable) and the larger 86kWh for the Pro S. WLTP range is likely to be similar to the Saloon ~ 384 miles / 426 miles along with 175kW / 200kW charging capability respectively Date of the official unveiling tbc but it's meant to be available from May I believe - can't wait! #ev #evs #electricvehicles #electriccars Volkswagen Financial Services (UK)Volkswagen Financial Services | Fleet Volkswagen UKVolkswagen Group UK Ltd https://lnkd.in/ezwTE5n4

"Depreciation is hitting EVs harder than most other vehicles. A combination of technology upgrades, price fluctuations on new cars, and lack of demand has meant a rapid drop in value for many electric models. This phenomenon is especially dramatic for Porsche’s Taycan EV, with high-spec Turbo models losing almost $100,000 in value within four years." #ElectricCars #ElectricVehicles #EV #Depreciation

Volkswagen ID.7 now available for orders The brand new Volkswagen ID.7 sedan, which is anticipated to challenge sales of the BMW i5, Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, is now available to order within the UK in ‘Pro Launch Edition’ form. This fully electric model will ultimately replace the Arteon sedan and the Passat station wagon in Volkswagen’s offer, as an ID.7 Tourer station wagon variant can be planned. For now, the sedan can only be ordered in a single introductory trim level, the 286-horsepower “Pro Launch Edition,” which is powered by a 77-kWh battery and may reportedly offer a spread of 384 miles. Next 12 months, the offer may also include a more powerful variant, the ID.7 “Pro S”, which can have a spread of roughly 700 km due to a bigger 82 kWh battery. Volkswagen claims to have maximized interior space by choosing short overhangs and an extended wheelbase. There are LED lights on the front and rear, and the automobile sits on 19-inch alloy wheels. The side and rear windows are product of thermally insulating glass, and the heated door mirrors may also be adjusted electronically. Inside, the ID.7 features Volkswagen’s recent 15-inch “Ready 2 Discover” infotainment display, with freely assignable favorite buttons and, in response to customer feedback, illuminated sliders to regulate the cabin temperature. It also comes with the brand’s navigation software installed. The set includes wireless smartphone charging, a voice assistant to regulate a phone call and a navigation system. This voice assistant may open the panoramic sunroof, which might be switched between opaque and transparent. The steering wheel is heated and leather-wrapped, and the heated, power-adjustable seats are trimmed with microfleece fabric. Ambient cabin lighting, keyless start and entry, three-zone climate control and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror are also standard. Prices for the brand new electric limousine currently start from PLN 56,000. kilos. Customers who order the ID.7 by January 2, 2024 will receive a free Ohme wall charger or a £750 credit from We Charge by Elli, Volkswagen’s public charging network. Car Pros CEO Matthew Phillips, MBA, MA recently spoke with Automotive News on falling EV prices that are helping to bring EVs into the mainstream. As the # 1 Kia EV retailer in the US, Matthew knows a thing or two about EV sales. He used this analogy: 'Initial high stickers are the way pricing goes with new technology... Flat-screen TVs were once expensive luxury products. Now, big-box stores sell large flat-screens for less than $200. With early adopters, people are willing to spend a little bit more money on any product. After the excitement has died down, the cars have to be competitive if they're going to sell." It's an interesting time for EVs, with costs lowering due to price cuts and discounts, and new models being introduced. And Car Pros is ready to help consumers navigate the latest EV options. “Porsche, Audi recall plug-in EV chargers over outlet fire risk” “And an unrelated battery fire threat prompted a recall of 205 Porsche Taycans” BYRON HURD - Dec 26th 2023 “Porsche and Audi issued recalls for more than 130,000 #batteryelectric and #pluginhybridvehicles to address two unrelated #firerisks. The larger of the two campaigns is actually directed not at the cars themselves, but at the #chargingcables that were sold with them. This recall covers all vehicles sold with the company's 40-amp, 220/240V "industrial" charging cable designed to fit a NEMA 14-50 outlet. Parent company Volkswagen says Porsche and Audi were made aware of instances where the cable could #overheating due to a poor-quality, outdated or defective home electrical setup, potentially leading to a #housefire.” “VW said the issue was discovered because over time, an #overheating #wallsocket can damage the charging cable itself, leading to increased #electricalresistance in the wiring. When those same charging cables are later used at #publicchargingstations, the higher temperatures resulting from the increased resistance can trigger fault codes in the chargers, potentially leaving motorists stranded. The company said a similar fault at home without the redundancies of a public charging station could lead to equipment damage and even fire. Because the recalled units are merely charging cables and not hard-wired boxes, they have only basic safeguards against misuse. The recalled cables will be replaced by new units with more robust #thermaloverloadprotection. “ “If you own an Audi or Porsche with a 220/240V, 40-amp charging cable, VW says the first sign of trouble is excess heat in the cable itself. We're hard-pressed to find any #PHEV or #BEV models sold by either brand that doesn't appear in this recall; the full list is at the end of the article for reference.” “The second recall announced by Porsche this month targets a much smaller population of its #electriccars. Just 205 Taycans are being recalled due to the potential for #fire caused by #batteryovercharging. Porsche says the recall population may fluctuate with time as it is targeting vehicles whose diagnostic systems have reported anomalous battery conditions that may indicate the potential for a similar failure. Vehicles produced after June 22, 2023 are outside of the recall population entirely.” https://lnkd.in/eeUv-tqV? Source - original post Read all my posts #MariusPreston
