I’ve been in various management roles for several years throughout my career, and there has always been one area where I have been able to clearly identify gaps which is clearly defining the responsibilities and goals within a person’s role. Clear responsibilities and goals are the backbone of effective sales leadership. They provide a roadmap for the team, ensuring everyone is aligned and focused on common objectives. The reality is that some "leaders" will skirt vision, targets, and goals just to grow their own careers, budgets, and headcount. It provides the appearance of being invaluable, when really it's just waste. Be mindful of how performance reviews and bonuses are possibly providing incentives to counter desired outcomes. The larger an enterprise is, the more distorted the "telephone game" becomes. - Keep your vision and targets visible, connected, and let people clearly see how they contribute - Bust up functional, departmental, and domain silos (align them around value and objectives) - Be ruthless in challenging assumptions and changing course #performance #leadership #management #value #outcomes #goals
