Much to Devin Haney's dismay, promoter Eddie Hearn Matchroom Boxing avoided yesterday purse bid for the Devin Haney vs. Sandor Martin fight, leaving Top Rank Boxing as the sole bidder, putting down $2.42 million to secure the match. From this amount, Haney will receive $1,524,600 for his title defense of the WBC light welterweight belt against Martin (42-3, 15 KOs). Martin, the Spaniard, will get $653,400. For Haney, this low bid is concerning for his career and marketability, indicating that his defeat against Ryan Garcia has had significant repercussions. It's a significant decline for Haney (31-1, 15 KOs), who isn’t even getting $2 million for this fight. This raises doubts about his chances of securing major paydays against Gervonta 'Tank' Davis or Teofimo Lopez. Haney must win this fight against Sandor; a loss could relegate him to fighting on lesser-known networks against similarly struggling fighters. Haney was not really a draw before being demolished by Garcia. Now, his value is even lower. Fans don’t believe the guy is real. He barely beat Loma in a really close fight that should have been a draw and then got rolled by Garcia. Cheating or not, Devin was getting hit over and over and over again. He could not get out of the way of those punches. The Kambosas fights were his launching pad but after Loma KO’d Kambosas the way he did, those two wins lost their luster. The only way he regains any value is if he beats Tank or he moves up and beats a top 2 Welterweight. ❤️🥊👻 https://lnkd.in/eiDewdhz (Ghost Sports Agency Linktr.ee) https://lnkd.in/e_UudkDn (WhatsApp channel) https://lnkd.in/eUaXyWf5 (Black Tiger Digital Marketing website) #GhostSportsAgency #CombatSports #ManagementCompany #CombatSportsManagement #FightersUnite #FightForGlory #TheUltimateAgency

Inside the Hilton Syon Park hotel, on another cloudy London day in July, Eddie Hearn has gathered the media for what he bills as boxing’s next big U.K. fight, an August rematch between two-time former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and ex–British boxing champ Dillian Whyte. (Days after this story was published in the August/September issue of Forbes magazine, Whyte was replaced by Robert Helenius due to a failed a drug test.) Yet Hearn can’t help thinking ahead. Noticing former heavyweight contender Derek Chisora a few feet away, he crashes a YouTube interview with another fighter, Fabio Wardley. “What about you two?” Hearn jokes, until both unexpectedly express interest and the wheels start turning. It’s no blockbuster match, but there isn’t a limelight too small, or big, for boxing’s perpetual hype machine. The 44-year-old Hearn loves to put on a show. He’s pushed the boundaries of his family’s event promotion company, Matchroom Sport, to previously unimaginable heights, which Forbes estimates posted fiscal 2023 (ended June 30) revenue of $365 million and a net profit of $60 million. Much of that is thanks to the rejuvenation of its boxing division, which he has steered since 2012 from small-time enterprise to global brand. Boxing now accounts for over half ($235 million) of Matchroom Sport’s estimated annual sales and nearly $20 million of its cash flow. It is the biggest name in U.K. boxing, a nascent yet profitable player in America and an emerging presence in newer markets such as the Middle East. https://trib.al/ld8PWF7

One of my earliest memories was watching a Manny Pacquiao match with my Papa. Aside from Pacquiao winning, the thing I remember most vividly is my Papa mentioning how a matchup between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather would be the best and biggest fight in boxing history. In 2015, the match became reality and was billed as "The Fight of the Century." It held true to the title by generating over 600 million dollars. It still holds the record for most pay-per-view (PPV) buys with 4.6 million purchased. Today, Most Valuable Promotions announced Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul will take place this summer. This match has everything it could possibly need to surpass Mayweather vs Pacquiao as the biggest match in history. Instead of running a typical PPV, which a match of such prestige warrants, it will be streamed on Netflix, which already has 260 million accounts. Instead of limiting the live crowd to a capacity of 16,800 like Mayweather vs Pacquiao, Tyson vs Paul will be in AT&T Stadium with a capacity of 80,000. Lastly, in my opinion, with the number of questions that surround the what-if scenarios, this match has better intrigue for casual fans. I believe Tyson vs Paul will be the most-watched boxing match in history, but I believe the revenue generated will fall just short to the mountain of cash Mayweather vs Pacquiao generated. https://lnkd.in/gySyBSad
