Kudos to Joss Colchester for promoting Systems Innovation #Thinking . Together with @Machiel Tesser he encourages us to examine every problem from many different directions… Technology is not always the root-cause … and is not always the solution either 🤷♂️ For #Sustainable Systems we first must be clear on all the input factors and all the relationships ( interactions ) including #Human, #Social and #Cultural factors. It time to #Educate the policy makers and politicians.
Here's why we need systems innovation... Because doing innovation in parts (individual products and services), as important as it is, may actually leave the system unquestioned & unchanged... and then as exciting as all those changes in parts were, we wake up 10 years later to realize the underlying system has not really changed... we need to start to think about systems and learn how to change them if we are to realize any sort of sustainable development. Indeed! I guess there is always space for new approaches in the landscape of design methods. We already have eg Co-Design and UX Design that they are constantly being developed further. How about a new approach like Existentional UX Design? Something ti measure how a product makes users life better and how did this impacts the world in general? So can we make better parts with Exsistentional UX Design? 🤔
