Cofounder/CEO at Grant Master | Winning grant funding and teaching with simplicity are my superpowers.
For those of us fighting the good fight for Mother Earth, passion is our greatest asset. Pour that into your proposal. Paint a vivid picture of the problem – deforestation, pollution, wildlife extinction – but also provide a clear roadmap for mitigation. And a tip from the trenches: Collaborate. Partnerships with local communities, governments, or other NGOs can lend your proposal the weight it needs to get noticed. #GrantWritingSchool #GrantWriting #FundraisingTips #NonprofitFunding #Grants #Philanthropy

Thriving nature is essential to healthy cities and communities, but nature is not always considered during the planning process. A Greenprint is an innovative science-based conservation planning framework that reveals the values and benefits of nature and nature-based solutions in community planning. While greenprinting has been adopted across the globe, the resources and guidance to create them and streamline their success have not been easily accessible. This is why TNC created the new Greenprint Resource Hub. The Greenprint Resource Hub compiles the guidance, resources, and strategies necessary for developing and launching a greenprint. This site is a treasure trove of knowledge vital for planners, policymakers, and the public to address community challenges through nature-based solutions. Check out the resource hub to discover the benefits of a greenprint, learn the process for scoping and developing a greenprint, and understand the science and data needs as well as the varying approaches to successful community outreach. The hub offers over 95 examples of greenprints from as close as the Bay Area to as far as Chennai, India. https://nature.ly/3UJd0gD

Guardians of South Georgia, regular givers, are celebrating and supporting the return of whales to South Georgia waters. Tragically, from 1905 to 1965 whales were hunted to near extinction at South Georgia. Thankfully, they are now slowly returning to the island’s waters. We want to tell this remarkable story of recovery to inspire people around the world that there’s always opportunity for environmental turnaround. South Georgia is the most powerful evidence to help bring change to other under pressure ecosystems. To reach and engage people worldwide we’re going to install a monumental artwork in the heart of Grytviken Whaling Station. Commensalis: The Spirit Tables of South Georgia will commemorate the loss and celebrate the recovery of whales at South Georgia, changing the narrative from whaling to whales – creating a beacon of hope for everyone who cares about nature and supporting vital research to protect the future of whales in the Southern Ocean. Guardians of South Georgia make a commitment to play a lasting role in the preservation of South Georgia – its wildlife, environment, and cultural heritage. Guardians are crucial to SGHT, especially now as we embark on major projects on island. Check out Cari (Logan) Cullen's blog on Indigenous Peoples' Day. "Today, I urge you to listen with humility and curiosity, willing to learn and unlearn. Don’t just do this on Indigenous Peoples’ Day but throughout the year. And then, after you have listened profoundly and done your internal work with humility, act in ways that increase belonging, build trust, move toward equity and justice, and create a better world for those who will come after us." https://lnkd.in/eN4mGkUT
Please take a minute to read this great, insightful piece from my Center for Disaster Philanthropy colleague, Cari (Logan) Cullen on Indigenous Peoples' Day. https://lnkd.in/eN4mGkUT

“We did not own the land, we belonged to it.” This Nonprofit Quarterly article highlights stories of land reclamation and healing justice from 2023, and articulates "how land recovery (described within the frameworks of land rematriation and land reclamation) can be a healing process, how land can anchor power building." Including news from the Winnemem Wintu Tribe and grantee partners Sogorea Te Land Trust, Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples among others, this comprehensive read underlines the reasons why supporting land return is a multi-impactful approach to supporting Indigenous nations and BIPOC communities. https://lnkd.in/gppeJ68y #SpiritualEcology

Owner\Founder - Rheos Environmental Consulting - Flood and Water Solutionist - Flood Risk Visual Asset Inspection (T98) Accredited
An important document setting out the way forward for a healthier and more vibrant natural environment for #somerset - good references and linkages to the importance of the health of the water environment in achieving that. Linkages across to the aims and ambitions outlined in other key documents (local flood risk management strategy), and more emphasis on the huge opportunities for nature restoration in the urban realm through planning improvements and retrofit will be important to emphasise.
Somerset Local Nature Recovery Strategy – Survey closes 30 April. Please share this with your networks and click on the link below to have your say. As well as having its own intrinsic value, a healthy natural environment is vital to our future. It is the foundation of a productive economy and provides us with food, water, carbon storage, flood control, attractive neighbourhoods, and great recreational and business opportunities. Somerset Local Nature Recovery Strategy will provide a framework for targeted, coordinated and collaborative action for nature. We are involving a wide range of people and organisations in the development of the Strategy, including landowners and managers, government organisations, environmental charities, businesses, local groups, and communities. If you haven’t contributed already, please take part in our survey to help shape this Somerset’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy: https://orlo.uk/mSE3I

Rural and urban economies need each other. And for rural places to have what they need to innovate and evolve to meet today’s needs, addressing systems disparities in federal funding is a huge hurdle… and area of opportunity! The more we know, the better we can do. Glad organizations like Headwaters Group are shining a light on current practices so we can build policy and regulation solutions for tomorrow. #ruralurban #ruralfunding
I appreciate that our state leaders and philanthropic partners realize the challenge of rural communities having to fight for grant dollars. Through investment in capacity building and the ability to offer technical assistance to our local units of government, progress will be made... and much more equitably.
