🔥 Taking Action Against #GlobalWildfires: A Call for Support 🌍 The recent surge in wildfires across the globe serves as a reminder of the pressing impact of #climatechange. The devastating effects are felt far and wide, underscoring the need for #immediateaction and support in regions where this phenomenon has originated. As a community, we have a responsibility to come together and stand against the flames of climate change. One such initiative that resonates with me is the program by #AECOM. AECOM has established a remarkable program that matches employee donations to provide aid for wildfire-stricken areas, specifically focusing on #Hawaii. You can find more details about this program following the link below: https://lnkd.in/euRhdNRT By joining forces, we can make a meaningful difference and help mitigate the impact of wildfires, fostering resilience and recovery. Let's amplify the message, extend our support, and work towards a greener, safer future. Together, we can be the change that counters the fiery challenges posed by climate change. #ClimateAction #WildfireSupport #AECOMCommunity #Sustainability #TogetherWeCan #GustofChange #ClimateChangeAwareness

On February 10th I'm taking the Polar Bear Plunge to Keep Winter Cold! And need your help to raise my fundraising goal of $1,800. I am taking the plunge to support my team’s incredible work at the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN). CCAN is the first grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Our mission is to build a diverse movement powerful enough to put our region on the path to climate stability, while using our proximity to the nation’s capital to inspire action in neighboring states, regions nationwide, and countries around the world. What did we accomplish this past year? In Virginia our sister organization, CCAN Action Fund, went all in to help elect climate champions to the state legislature and won big. Many of the House candidates we endorsed won in real nail biter elections, and our mobilization helped get them over the top to victory. In Maryland CCAN Action Fund led the campaign to pass an innovative offshore wind policy, which has already brought new union manufacturing jobs to Baltimore. In DC we are blocking Project Pipes, a proposal by utilities to force ratepayers to spend $4.5 billion on new gas infrastructure. On December 19th the DC Public Service Commission decided to delay the second round of Project Pipes At the national level, we led a mobilization that helped pressure the EPA to issue more pollution slashing regulations. In 2024 we have an even more ambitious agenda and the stakes are even higher. Will you give to my polar bear plunge again this year? Anything you can give will be tremendously helpful. https://lnkd.in/esVtmvr6

In Australia, most charities and community groups – aside from environmental charities – play no role in addressing the biggest challenge that will increasingly impact our work and our communities. We can and should change that. https://lnkd.in/ggGfTM7u

The Resilience Institute team unites people in small, rural and Indigenous communities to strengthen resilience to climate impacts. Taking action now is critical to minimize the suffering of a rapidly warming world. By donating to the Adaptation Action Fund you are helping those most affected by climate impacts including floods, fires, and drought: https://bit.ly/47mpr5k or direct e-transfer to: finance@resilienceinstitute.ca We created the Adaptation Action Fund to reduce funding barriers to climate adaptation action and help ensure immediate implementation of actions identified through planning. Developing strategies informed by diverse voices in the community, a key component of our approach, is essential in addressing climate threats and building a resilient future. Help spread the word to those who are interested in being part of a solution focused venture. #climateresilience #climateadaptation #resilience #resilientcommunities #community #connection #support #donate #holidaygiving #yearendgiving Photo by Johane JanelleImage description: The background is a photo of a bison standing in a prairie landscape.
