Earlier this week, the world’s largest democracy celebrated its 75th Republic Day, commemorating its journey to overcome imperial greed and cultural genocide and its continuous efforts to rejuvenate a civilisation that has uplifted humanity for many millennia. While the day’s events are known for their magnificence, Republic Day is an ode to countless individuals from unique cultures and traditions who have worked together, achieving incredible feats and enhancing India’s greatness. One such group of individuals who personified the true spirit of this sacred land and achieved great triumph are the people of the Chipko movement. The movement originated in 1730 when members of the Bishnoi community sacrificed their lives to conserve trees in their villages. Led by Shrimati Amrita Devi, the protestors embraced the trees unshakeably, believing that “a chopped head is better than a felled tree” and inspiring the King of Jodhpur to ban deforestation in Bishnoi villages. Fast forward two and a half centuries, the Chipko movement resurfaced in present-day Uttarakhand, triggered by commercial greed that jeopardised both local villagers and the life-supporting ecosystem. Once again, the values of non-violence and dharma (righteous conduct), integral to Indian identity, triumphed as the authorities cancelled logging permits and a healthier ecological balance persisted. While this brief post will never do justice to the thousands of great souls that have contributed to the Chipko movement, it is their contribution we must revere, their actions that we must learn from, and their values we must imbibe. As India rejoices and works to build a more sustainable future, may we all learn from such noble communities who represent not only what it means to be a great citizen but also what it means to be human. Only then will we all exist harmoniously within Nature; only then will the world see an India that is truly Bharat. Dharti Mata ki Jai 🙏🌍💚 (Hail Mother Earth) Bharat Mata ki Jai 🙏🇮🇳💙(Victory to Mother India) #india #republicday #sustainability #climateaction #climate #climatechange

🌟#MotivationalMonday🌟 Jadav Payeng - The Forest Man of India In the northeastern state of Assam, India, there lies a lush, thriving forest covering over 1,360 acres. This isn't just any forest; it's the incredible creation of Jadav Payeng, a man who single-handedly transformed a barren sandbar into a thriving ecosystem. Jadav Payeng embarked on this remarkable journey in 1979, when he was just a teenager. He noticed the devastating impact of soil erosion on his homeland and decided to take action. Armed with dedication and determination, he began planting saplings on the barren land. For decades, Payeng tirelessly tended to his forest, watering, and nurturing the plants. Over time, the once-barren sandbar transformed into a thriving ecosystem, complete with diverse flora and fauna. His forest is now home to tigers, elephants, rhinoceroses, and countless other species. Jadav Payeng's story serves as a powerful reminder of the difference one person's unwavering commitment can make in the world. His question for all of us is simple yet profound: What positive impact can you create in your environment, no matter how small your actions may seem? #motivationalmondays #RealLifeHero #purposedrivenlife #growthmindset #determination #resilience #lifecoaching pics and data courtesy Google

Is your city feeling the heat? This summer's scorching temperatures are a stark reminder of the urgency of climate action. Just to keep the lights on, transformers are resorting to city water coolers! This isn't sustainable, and it's a warning sign we can't ignore. But there's hope! Let's turn up the cool and turn down the heat by investing in our environment. Data shows that India have 28 trees per year, we should start thinking about the environment and I believe that planting trees in our communities can make a real difference. Let's collaborate and get planting! #ClimateAction #SaveTheEnvironment #PlantATree #BeatTheHeat Such wonderful information @vindo K Bapna sir
The population of India is more than 140 crores and, if you plant only one tree today in a place where a person has 20 feet of space, then there will be 140 crore trees directly and in the next summer the heat will be upto 30 degrees and the rain will also increase. Thousands are spent on cakes/clothes/bikes. But today after thinking a little and going to the market and bringing a 20 rupee tree plant, think of the next generation. *Mission Green India* 🌴🌳🌲👆🌧🌧🌱🌿🌳 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

World Economic Forum: What can we learn from India's 200 years of tree planting? This article about India’s to restore forests and increase vegetation cover 200yrs ago, offers a good overview of what good tree planting initiatives entail. Increased #vegetationcover can be achieved in 3 broad strategies: promoting natural regeneration; afforestation (putting trees where they never existed); and proforestation (protecting standing trees and natural forests). A combination of different current objectives including — carbon credits, restoration of degraded ecosystems on a 30*30 by 2030 it means companies and individuals do rush their tree planting initiatives unscrupulously. Experience from India 200yrs ago on tree planting shows mistakes such as disregarding rights of local communities and rights of environment such as “promoting single tree species plantation” which not only modified natural habitats but also restricted local communities from benefiting from their environment. As the article puts “…planting trees does not necessarily mean a forest is being restored…determining whether local people and the environment are benefiting is a more helpful measure of success than simply scanning a forest canopy from above.” Thus, tree planting initiatives should look beyond the “number of trees planted” and “percentage cover of vegetation” instead they should also seriously consider whether these tree initiatives are in the best interest of the local environment and communities. In other words, tree planting programs should work in harmony with the environment and people rather than against them. How are your tree planting programs framed up? #india #treeplanting #localcommunities #afforestation #naturaregeneration #proforestation

#Time to Protect soil...! No soil...No space...No Trees #Understand the logic.... Are we actually hitting the real problem? We should actually have to grill it down to analyse where the problem is ... 1) Is planting a tree a real problem 2) Is buying a plant a real problem 3) Is where to plant tree a actual problem .... In this fastest growing so called development...the #Agricultural and #Forest lands are being converted into #Resedential areas provocating builders to invade the place and sell so called #dream house... so I ideally believe we have to protect soil first ...No space ...No soil ...No Trees...!
