Mahalin mo ang Pilipinas nang higit sa’yong sarili. 🇵🇭 Today, as we celebrate Philippine Independence Day, I find myself reflecting on the time I spent acting on stage, bringing to life the story of one of our nation’s greatest heroes, Apolinario Mabini. Mabini’s unwavering dedication and visionary leadership in the fight for our freedom have always been a source of inspiration for me. In the musical, we portrayed not just the historical events, but the profound emotions and resilience that defined Mabini’s journey. Acting on stage required an in-depth understanding of the character, a commitment to authenticity, and the ability to connect with the audience—much like my role as a Business Analyst. As a Business Analyst, I draw parallels between the art of acting and the analytical skills needed in business. Here are a few lessons I’ve carried with me: 1. 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: Just as I conveyed Mabini’s story to the audience, as a Business Analyst, I communicate complex data and insights to stakeholders, ensuring they understand the narrative behind the numbers. 2. 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: On stage, unexpected moments demand quick thinking and adaptability. In the business world, adaptability is crucial as we navigate changing markets and evolving business needs. 3. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆: Understanding Mabini’s and his allies’ motivations and struggles helped me portray my roles authentically. Similarly, understanding the needs and perspectives of various stakeholders helps me provide better solutions that align with their goals. 4. 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺: Mabini’s fight for independence reminds me of the value of freedom in our professional lives—the freedom to innovate, to question the status quo, and to drive change. As Business Analysts, we have the freedom to explore new methodologies, challenge existing processes, and contribute to the overall success of our organisations. Today, I celebrate not just our nation’s independence, but also the personal and professional freedoms that allow us to grow, innovate, and make a difference. Their expertise can promote the growth of knowledge-intensive industries such as technology, finance, healthcare, or renewable energy. Additionally, a well-educated workforce can boost productivity levels by effectively utilizing resources through efficient management practices. This enables economies to become more competitive globally and diversify their exports beyond raw materials. Therefore, investing in human capital through quality education systems, vocational training programs, continuous learning opportunities, and attracting talent from abroad plays a critical role in driving economic diversification. It helps countries move away from dependence on specific sectors or resources towards a more sustainable and diversified economy that can better withstand external shocks and foster long-term prosperity.
