2 Quick reminders on Election Day. 1: Don't vote for fascists. 2: If you are in any position of authority to set policy at a company with US offices, you need to make Election Day a paid holiday (until congress does what it should and makes it a federal holiday). If you could and you don't, make sure to look your children in the eyes tonight and say "I don't love you enough to take simple steps to ensure you'll grow up in a democracy, good night!"

Understanding generations is really important to understanding this general election - but not in the nonsense/stereotypical way it's so often done! Politics is as about as complex and shifting a mix of lifecycle, period and cohort effects as you can get - where understanding which effect is dominating is vital to understanding the future. The Conservatives lost all but the oldest generations, which doesn't bode well for their future. But it's this particular Conservative offer that's being rejected, and that could change quickly as new period effects assert themselves, particularly if Labour form the new government but struggle to achieve noticeable improvements for a wide range of cohorts. The generational dynamics of party support in the next parliament is going to interesting!
Which generations have been getting the most attention from political parties in their General Election campaigns? How successful has it been? And why could forgetting about Generation X be a big mistake? Professor Bobby Duffy, Director of The Policy Institute shares his insights. ⬇️
