Here is how spending 30 seconds a day could change someone’s life. This habit I’ve picked up over the years has 100% enhanced my relationships. During the day, if any positive thought comes to my mind about someone, I immediately text them. It can be someone I haven’t spoken to since high school, a close friend, or an acquaintance I recently met. It’s a 30-second practice that could make their day better and yours as well. You never know what’s going on in someone else’s life. A small, thoughtful gesture from your end could mean a lot and be “the message” they needed to hear. We often take our relationships for granted and tend to wait for “the right time” to tell someone something. Then that time never comes and life moves on. However, as cliche as it may sound, life is short. And my friend Julian Kochummen has been one of the strongest reminders of taking any opportunity you have to appreciate others because you just never know. Sometimes these messages result in grabbing a coffee, a new job opportunity, or just nothing more than a few messages of sending positive thoughts toward each other's families. Sometimes, I’ve been on the side of being at the right place at the right time also. Through these 30 second messages, sparked a conversation that helped someone navigate through an unexpected life event like the passing of a family member, a divorce, the loss of a job, or a cancer diagnosis. Either way, the outcome is always beneficial, on both sides and time well spent. When you try to make someone’s else’s day better simply for no reason at all, it will end up benefiting you in more ways than you can imagine. Try it - send a text to someone you haven’t spoken with in years who you appreciate. Let me know how it goes!

Here's to you Don! I wish you could have stuck around Apple longer. It was always a pleasure running into you in B5.
