As we all enjoy a well-deserved holiday and begin to make – at times ill-fated – resolutions, it seems wise to reflect on the year past. 2023 has been a tough year. Globally, we faced the renewed ravages of war, a challenging reorganization of the economic order, and all this on top of pre-existing systemic inequalities. Domestically, South Africa has not escaped the impact of these crises. Most private companies saw a fall in profits and the Minister of Finance announced a period of austerity, in which most government departments would have to make serious choices on spending. All this, alongside long-running challenges, from healthcare provision to employment to energy supply. Faced with these problems, old and new, now more than ever it is a time for all of us to assume the leadership mantel. As the new CEO of Common Purpose, I’m excited to be fostering this leadership at such a critical moment in our history. We need leadership that is bold and courageous. Leadership that understands solutions can only come from collaboration and that true collaboration can only come from a deep engagement between partners who listen deeply, understand acutely and are willing to cross their boundaries to seek creative solutions. This has always been the work of Common Purpose. We are determined to use our programmes and processes to help develop this new cadre of leaders, from the boardroom to the classroom. We know we can build the leadership community that transforms these challenges into opportunities and unleashes South Africa’s potential. In 2024 South Africa will head to the polls and mark 30 years of democracy, we know the transformative change a movement of leaders at all levels of society can bring. It is also a reminder that the work of leadership never ceases, and that there is much to do before we deliver on the promise of 94. This year will not be easy, but at Common Purpose we see the potential and know our role is to develop leadership that builds bridges and champions change. As we wish you all of you a peaceful and happy holiday, we look forward to 2024 and the necessary change it will bring. BRICS expansion Today`s decision to enlarge the BRICS commuity , adding six new members and expecting many more, may mark the day when an antiwest block is being founded. These block is definitely pro China and Russia and will justify future actions against the west. This unexpected event may lead to the strebghtening of the western block, adding countries such as Australia , New Zealand, even Japan and South Corea or to its dismissal. We need visionary leaders that understnd history trends.

What exactly is NOKS? The overall purpose is to unite eminent people to work together to improve the human condition. To create a better world with an aim of establishing greater equilibrium and more unity internationally. Members are those who put service above self. Who will work continually to achieve our objectives by encouraging others to improve themselves and the environment they live in. This will be achieved by tolerating differences whilst encouraging a true fellowship between different peoples. We are strong believers in real and direct democracy, human freedom and mutual respect. This is done without members seeking personal gain or to achieve individual goals not related to these principles. The Order will not be used to obtain money, self promotion or status and power for members. It is truly a genuine Order of positive service and one that inspires others to follow its example. This is why the standard is high. We have some excellent people and a fine leadership team based on the above principles. We seek to improve the world around us by positive acts which will make a real difference. Our leaders have done a lot of work to accelerate this process, not least Sir Ian Anderson and HRIH Sandra Martinez. We are in the process of further expanding our purpose and intentions. Our vision is international. Our aim being a total commitment to that vision. Encompassing as it does a real constructive improvement in the world around us. The entire concept is one based on humanitarianism and the imposition of harmony to counter calamity and barbarity.
