Leaving BIG 4 and Joining Mid-size firm, is it Right Decision? Two months ago, I met my friend who just cleared his exam and became Qualified Chartered Accountant he was saying that he got an offer from Deloitte and he was going to accept the offer which will pay him nearly 12 lakh package, but today I got usual call from him, I asked his experience at one of the BIG 4 and he suddenly replied that he just resigned and joined a Mid-size firm which is paying lessor money compare to Deloitte. I just got pop-up notification in my mind, is he took right Decision, we discussed on same topic and we complete our conversation after half an hour, what I learned from that call A job that pays you slightly more Money, but gives you far less knowledge and fewer skills, is Lower paying job. What Advantages He will get from this Decision 1. Gets overall exposure of all areas like IT, GST, Audit, Public Finance 2. Direct dealing with Client gives you more Confidence 3. Lower Stress of work will give you High Efficiency 4. Flexible environment 5. Lower working hours gives you more time to develop other skills and knowledge Then I realized that he took the Right Decision.

Finally the journey is over!!! Yes, my career as an articled assistant draws to a close officially today. This 3 years has been quite outstanding in terms of value additions, transformation and knowledge building and collaboration with people. If someone had asked me, what do you get by working for 3 years before your final exams, this can also be done after you qualify right, here's my response: 1. This 3 years is a quite solid time to build a grand base before your career; just like a on the ground reality of what's in store for your future 2. This is a fundamental step to make sure that people of the right quality are coming out 3. Practical knowledge of scenarios dealt with add more shine to the book knowledge or rather an exam oriented knowledge 4. A complete cleansing and transformation of one's personality is necessary before you step out as a qualified CA Ok, so did this happen to you? Of course I would say yes without batting an eyelid. Transformation from an introvert to a more networking person, from lone warrior to a team player, from thinking to critical and situational thinker, to handling reviews from managers to partners or leadership, all of it happened in this 3 years Here, I would like to express my profound gratitude to everyone in Deloitte who made this journey so special. There are many moments like the lighter ones over a cup of coffee, to delightful surprise birthday celebrations, to the crunch deadlines, to the happy and candid conversations, to constructive idea sharing and what not. Thanks for making the journey a pleasant one amidst all highs and lows Life is a bed of roses and thorny bushes, but with great people around you, you can drive yourself through the way

Celebrating my 1st Anniversary with EY Consulting this month! ❤️ I was thinking about what to share since it’s been a very steep learning curve and there are many valuable lessons. However, if I were to generalise the “work rhythm” that I picked up, it would be what I call the “T-P-C” framework. “T-P-C” framework is a 3-step approach that I find to have solved most of my day-to-day tasks. The approach works even when things are dynamic with ever-changing information from different parties and there is no typical day at work. Step 1) “THINK” about the matter/ issue at hand thoroughly, e.g. think about how to get from A to B and what needs to happen etc. Step 2) “PRODUCE” a plan/ ppt slide/ tracker to illustrate the thinking Step 3) “COMMUNICATE” the idea to relevant stakeholders to keep them informed/ align/ take actions and more. In a nutshell, communication is critical to how we move things forward. Consulting is fun. Glad I am learning something new everyday. #EY #Consulting #Finance #FinanceTransformation #Big4 #HK #FPnA #erpimplementation #processoptimization
