99 years ago today, 10 municipal leaders from across the country sat down together in Lawrence, Kansas for the first official meeting of the National League of Cities. On this important anniversary, I took some time to reflect on how much has changed and what has remained the same for our incredible organization in these last 100 years.

According to the principle of intergenerational equity, to promote prosperity
and quality of life for all, institutions both of the government and the private
sector should implement policies and operations that balance the short-term
needs of today’s generation with the longer-term needs of future
generations.

It's always an pleasure to travel up to Reading, PA and join in on the conversation with Ebony McNeill and the men of The FORGE. We come together to discuss the myriad issues that effect men and boys of all ages and cultures. These are the types of individuals and programs the we at REFORM Alliance support. In order to change the minds of those that may think the work isn't being done, or the conversations necessary to create real change aren't being had, we need to continue to gather in these spaces together!! The honor is all mine.
✨ Maximising Potential: We Are the Public 8-9 May 2024 ✨
https://lnkd.in/eGjz5Js2 (I made a video)
This post is dedicated to everyone who supported and took part in the 3rd Maximising Potential conference last week, dedicated to stages of leadership 1-3, self-identifying from under-represented groups.
I have had some proud moments in policing, but last week's conference is my biggest achievement so far. Not just because I'm proud to have brought my vision to life, but because I got to host so many passionate and empathic individuals across policing in one place. It was such a powerful 2 days with opportunity to network, listen to lived experiences, and further inspire each other. Individually we can achieve a lot (we've shown that), but together we are unstoppable. I am so enthused to have so many new friends across policing!
Some of my takeaways:
💡 Continue to build trust with each other, together we can achieve more
💡 United minorities make a majority 😉
💡 The importance of my allyship and breathing this into everything I do
💡 Those who believed in me and supported me when I didn't have a platform (they know who they are), and ensuring I am "that person" for others
💡 My passion and drive comes from being the person I needed
💡 That my opinion and values have only grown stronger
💡 I inherit the good and the bad, I own it, I am the organisation
💡 How on Earth do we top it next time?! 😅
