On Friday we welcomed Lisa Nandy to DCMS as Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport - supporting our nation’s wealth of talent to shape our cultural landscape, nurturing the arts and creating opportunities in the creative industries, media and sport for all people, in every corner of the country
Welcome and Congratulations to Lisa Nandy on her new role as Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. With lived experience in frontline charities 👍🏻 Could you please prioritise building a successful community by working closely with the #VCFSE (Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise) sector to establish better links with statutory agencies for social welfare? Recognising the stability of community members compared to public sector turnover, a strategic partnership can bridge the gap caused by austerity measures and geographical challenges. The key to building a successful community is creating a sense of belonging and trust. It's about nurturing a culture where everyone feels valued, collaboration is encouraged, and support is freely given. This localised approach not only strengthens our community but also creates a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. We look forward to working with with the Department to empower the civil society sector to help our communities thrive.
Congratulations! Looking forward to joined up thinking with your counterpartsparts in Education to improve the vital role of creativity in our schools.

Congratulations to Lisa Nandy 🤝 #TheArtsMatter & we hope the sector will remain at the forefront of Department for Culture, Media and Sport commitments. We look forward to engaging & encourage the Sec to consider the entire arts, culture & heritage ecosystem, including suppliers & that doing so informs any and all policy decisions. 🎭🎶🩰🏰🕺🏻🎨🏛️🎻🎪
Love this. So excited what programmes will be developed to meet the needs of so many in society. My personal starting point in funding in 1997. Have waited so long for these changes 🤣👏👏
As Chair of CfSA, I look forward to having a constructive, ongoing dialogue, with the DCMS and DfE, with (and on behalf of) professional Subject Associations. Most subject associations are members of the Council for Subject Associations (CfSA) and that includes professional arts education organisations. CfSA was set up with the support of the last Labour government. https://www.subjectassociations.org.uk/
We are devolved re culture so will be interesting to see the engagement north of the border and “leveling up” the country as a whole in provision of culture UK wide

3wAbout time there was a proper Culture Secretary rather than a divisive culture 'warrior'. Hope the heritage sector can once again openly voice issues previously suppressed. Still shocked by the explicit political pressure applied to the sector to conform to a gilded narrative. https://www.museumsassociation.org/museums-journal/news/2021/02/fears-over-editorial-freedom-as-heritage-bodies-summoned-to-discuss-contested-history/
