After studying hundreds of innovation successes and failures, the Harvard Business Review has identified one key trait: The best innovations reinforce the company’s purpose and create mutual value for all of its key constituents. But how can executives ensure that this is the case? According to the team at Bain and Company who wrote the article in HBR, leaders must: 1️⃣ Align innovation teams with the company’s purpose. 2️⃣ Establish an innovation proposal-and-approval process that steers innovations toward value creation 2️⃣ Develop solutions to strengthen the stakeholder system which reward stakeholders for their contributions to the company’s purpose and increases their collective trust and confidence in the system. https://hubs.ly/Q027YXvS0 #Innovation #Leadership

Imagination is the essential ingredient for #innovation, so why do so few leaders talk about it? Imagination often gets dismissed, and it's often thought of as something that is entirely separate from reality. Well...it kind of is, and that's the point. Until we make it reality. We can't create something NEW without thinking outside of the boundaries of what already exists. We must first imagine a different approach to an old problem in order to actual innovate. Martin Reeves and Adam Job's tips for encouraging imagination within our teams are great, but I think the most important thing for leaders to take away is that we need to create a culture that doesn't shame people for thinking differently. Even if they share an idea that is pretty left-field, the practice of thinking outside of the box should be celebrated. #Leadership #LeadershipDevelopment #CompanyCulture #EmployeeEngagement

Long gone are the Wild West era of a four-person squad plotting a strategy on a whim every Wednesday (only to see it change on Friday) 🤠 Going from start-up to scale-up changes a lot of things, one of them is how you do strategy. For this to succeed, frameworks are great, and why start from scratch, when brilliant people have spend years/decades finetuning them? Not long ago, I had to do a Deep-dive into the world of strategy frameworks, and after some intense days of reading, listening and poking around in my network, I had a crush on the simple, but powerful framework, McKinseys 3 Horizons of growth 📈 ❌ Is it perfect? - of course not! ✅ Does it tackle the main issues of alignment and planning in a leadership team? - I very much believe so! A great resource to learn more about it, is this Growth Tribes’s video explaining it 👇 (Thanks David Arnoux & GrowthTribe) Do you have you experience with this or other strategy frameworks, or scale-up strategy processes in general? - then I would love to chat over a cup of coffee (coffee here might be a placeholder for a beer) - hit me up in a comment or a DM!
