Permanent Change of Station (PCS) season for the military can bring big transitions for our Trident family. This summer, a handful of our Trident members embarked on journeys to new duty stations. But luckily, in the military community, getting a new zip code often means reuniting with old friends! We’re proud to be a company that values and supports #militaryspouses: 83% of our rockstars have an affiliation with the military whether as veterans, military spouses, parents of service members, or a combination of these. Ten of our key staff are current military spouses! Thanks to our core values of Teamwork and Accountability & Responsibility, our remote and globally dispersed staff are experts at coordinating calls and projects across five or more different time zones. And our core value of Balance means we also recognize the importance of taking time to connect (or reconnect!) in person over a cup of coffee. The military might necessitate family relocations, but at Trident, we ensure that our staff can continue to pursue professional goals while their service members continue their military service. My fellow Veterans - Having a DD 214 in hand does not mean you are done transitioning. The military to civilian transition is a continual process of discovery, self-awareness and emotional/ social adjustments. Be patient and intentional about your professional and personal development. Here's 3 areas we must continue to refine out of uniform: 🗣 Communication Style: Shift from formal, hierarchical military communication to more flexible and collaborative civilian communication. 📉 Workplace Culture: Adapt to a less structured and more individual-oriented corporate culture, focusing on creativity and initiative. 🧘♂️ Emotion Management: Understand that empathy and grace are necessary tools to be effective in a civilian environment. When those are absent, think about your methods to cope with frustrations. After 13 years of being a veteran, I'm still transitioning.
