You’ve heard of the unboxing video, but have you seen the reboxing video? I’ve spent the last 10 months deciding which tech will power the Pizza Roboto story and be the glue that connects all of the tech that Mamma Ramona's uses to grow its digital restaurant brand. Square was the incumbent when I started, until Toast showed up at my door and pitched me on their system. Switching systems wasn’t on my mind when we met, but I humored the rep because he drove all the way to Ramona. A few weeks later, I was staring at a pile of 21 boxes I was expected to self install with a virtual installer in Boston. Slice was last to the game. Ilir Sela made the pitch and I bought a system to test and use. What a great installation it was in contrast to Toast; whomever at Toast sets these up should meet with Joseph Shusterman at Bluemark and explore a different way to execute that process. But I’m at a crossroads now. I can’t keep testing and integrating and analyzing which is the best POS to use, at least not three of them. I’m on a mission to open 25 locations by the end of 2024, with the first 4 done by the end of this year. Oceanside, SDSU and Philly are the next three, and leases are about to be or have been signed. So, one of these systems is leaving in what is likely the first “reboxing” video ever made coming out next week… Who will leave, and who will stay? Shawn P. My children have been insisting that we get an air fryer. Initially, I resisted, reluctant to add another appliance to our already cluttered kitchen. During the Boxing Day sales, I finally gave in to their requests. We found ourselves in a well-known department store, looking at a particular air fryer model. It had a decent discount, marked down from its original price. Being always on the lookout for the best deals, I did a quick online price check and found another retailer offered it at a significantly lower price. I saw an opportunity to request a price match. Approaching a very lovely and kind salesperson, I asked if they would match the competitor's price. Initially, he agreed but changed his mind after seeing the specific price, explaining that it was too low and would significantly impact their profit margin. This response piqued my curiosity. Further investigation led me to discover that their own online store listed the air fryer at the same competitive price I had found. Armed with this information, I returned to the salesman and asked if they would match their online price. He agreed, but his embarrassment was very clear. He shared his frustration about the store's disjointed communication systems. According to him, they used multiple systems for different operational aspects, and updates on pricing were never effectively communicated. Being front-facing and helping customers daily, this salesperson and his colleagues needed more cohesive, less top-down systems! This incident clearly illustrated the critical role that internal communications play in the retail sector. Had I not diligently checked the online prices, I might have walked away, and the store would have lost a sale due to a simple internal miscommunication. Interestingly, when we proceeded with the purchase, the price at the register was discounted all along. The air fryer now has a dedicated place in our kitchen, and the teenagers certainly love it. The experience reinforced the importance of focused and accurate internal communication. It showed me how ineffective communication can lead to missed sales and customer dissatisfaction. Which can in turn impact an organisation’s reputation. The shopping trip was a tangible illustration of the very challenges I'm looking to solve. Our goal at Traffyk.ai is to improve internal communications within businesses to promote efficiency. This experience in the store only deepened my dedication to assisting businesses in refining their communication strategies, employing AI-enhanced analytics and feedback systems to ensure every team member is properly informed and in sync with the company's operational demands.
