Programme Director @ UCD Innovation Academy / Anthropologist & Futurist in Innovation / TV Presenter / Radio Show & Podcast Presenter / Keynote Speaker / Provocateur
I had a fascinating chat with Adam Gamwell, Ph.D. today, discussing anthropology and human flourishing amidst rapid technological change. (Thank you Oliver Sweet). We explored the 'inevitability' of new AI platforms and advancements (hello Chat GpT4.0!) and the crucial question of how humans will utilise them and for what purpose. In the competitive landscape of technological innovation, organisations are compelled to evolve and embrace new technologies to thrive. However, the fear of missing out on advancements reflects a societal desire to stay relevant and align with emerging trends. Broader socio-economic structures and regulatory bodies play a pivotal role in shaping innovation environments, either fostering progress or imposing barriers TechFoundHer. Technological advances are not solely driven by market forces but are intricately linked to human aspirations, social dynamics, and cultural values. In the race for speed to market, it's crucial to pause and ask ourselves: Are we overlooking the human element? As we embrace technological advancements and strive for innovation, let us not forget that behind every product, every algorithm, and every decision, there are real people with hopes, fears, and aspirations. By prioritising empathy, inclusivity, and ethical considerations in our pursuit of progress, we can ensure that technological innovation truly serves humanity's collective well-being.

A quarter of a century ago, the vision of free access to knowledge supported by digital technologies was born. This vision gave rise to Wikipedia, the Open Access movement, publicly available maps of the human genome, and open-source technologies building the latest AI systems. However, this project remains unfinished and faces new challenges. The pandemic has revealed barriers to sharing knowledge even in times of crisis. For the purposes of machine learning, we exploit shared knowledge for commercial gain. We invite you to a lecture by dr Alek Tarkowski titled "Wikipedia vs. AI. The Challenge of Knowledge as a Common Good" in which he will discuss the opportunities and challenges for the actual realization of the postulate of free access to knowledge for all. He will also show how the vision of the common good - commons - remains a powerful and necessary civilizational project. Dr Alek Tarkowski is a digital activist, strategist, and sociologist of technology. He is a co-founder and strategy director at the European think tank Open Future Foundation. He serves as the president at Fundacja Centrum Cyfrowe and as a member of the Board of Directors at the American foundation Creative Commons. He deals with strategies and public policies through which digital technologies serve the common good. New Europe Challenger 2016, graduate of the Leadership Academy of Poland (class of 2017). 🌟 Registration for the WUD Silesia Festival is ongoing. In collaboration with The Ohio State University, I am working on groundbreaking projects that explore the intersection of art, technology, and non anthropocentric thinking. The work aims to integrate the intelligence of living systems with artificial intelligence, promoting a shift away from human-centered perspectives. Our projects, such as Entropic Epochs and Mycelial Cognition, utilize microorganisms to challenge traditional societal structures and encourage a more ecosystemic approach. By layering human texts with the growth of organisms like slime mold and fungi, we critique the anthropocentric logic that underpins many modern technologies and social systems. Through this collaboration, we are developing hybrid technologies that listen to and reflect the complexities of living networks, pushing for a more inclusive and sustainable future. This work not only reimagines the potential of AI but also fosters interdisciplinary partnerships that bridge the gap between art and science. Together, we are exploring new ways of thinking and creating, hoping to inspire a broader acceptance of nonhuman intelligence and its role in our world.

Panel discussion on The Marriage of Arts and Technology: How Humanities and AI Can Collaborate for Creative Innovations. Thank you Kanak Gupta Aditi Goradia , Vijay Datta, Gautam Rajgarhia , Hardeep Bakshi for an interesting fireside chat! My take on the topic: AI can assist humans in areas where we may fall short, such as processing vast amounts of information quickly or performing repetitive tasks with precision. This collaboration may allow us humans to retain our unique qualities, including creativity, empathy, and intuition, while leveraging AI's computational power. When it comes to using technology for creative arts, we must ensure the authentic creative self expressions are not tampered with; purpose of art remains the same - cathartic, healing, unifying and reflection of society; ensuring personal biases and prejudices are not used through art to perpetuate the division; inclusive of all voices and ensuring access ; not used to hurt or humiliate anyone. We have a responsibility to use art to build communities. Technology tools combined with Values like justice, openness, honesty, creativity, care, wisdom and responsibility must continually find new expression in our techniques and artefacts. Every time we remake the world with our ingenuity, we also have to reinscribe in that world the values that will sustain us. #SGEF2023

TOP 10 WOMEN IN DATA SCIENCE PL (2024) ✨ Expert in Ethics of New Technology, Academic Lecturer, Researcher 🌟 | TOP 100 WOMEN in AI PL (2022) 🏆 TEDx Speaker 🔴🎤 | Philosopher & Sociologist playing golf ⛳
🚆 The moment when there's still signal on the train and I can quickly, and with great excitement, share my thoughts from the recent conference where I had the privilege to present my paper: "Ethics of AI in the Face of Modern Holistic Challenges: Perspectives on the Integration of Technology and Humanism." First, a bit about the conference. This is the third time I've had the immense pleasure of participating. 🎉 For the past 15 years, Professor Teresa Pekala has been organizing these meetings. This year's conference was titled: "Elements of Life in Art, Philosophy, Aesthetics: Perspectives of Modern Holism." 🌟 It’s a unique gathering of scientists and humanists from various fields. We are "quartered" in one hotel, so the conference really runs non-stop. Breakfast - philosophy, lunch - aesthetics, dinner - new media. 🍳🍽🍷 It's wonderful and simultaneously exhausting, but undoubtedly creative. As soon as I get some rest and enjoy a dinner conversation on non-academic topics, I'll write a detailed report on my presentation and the incredibly interesting discussion that followed, as I had quite a few questions. Stay tuned! 🌟📚 Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej w Lublinie Uniwersytet WSB Merito Warszawa #conference #etykanowychtechnologii #ethics #AI
