We are delighted to sponsor TRUE, an exhibition in Hong Kong Blank_Space curated by Anthea Wong! 👉 It is an exhibition inviting artists to explore the theme of "true" in their work and showcase their authentic selves through various mediums. Each artist has the opportunity to express their unique perspective on what is true to them. We were particularly excited to sponsor this exhibition as it explores the truth behind our identity and how we perceive ourselves in a world that tells us who we should be. You can learn more about the exhibition here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ePQm_u26 [Visual description: carousel is designed in bright yellow, pink and blue. Image 1: title, Fresh and Fearless is sponsoring the True Exhibition. Curated by Anthea Wong in Hong Kong. Image 2: "This exhibition will focus on creatives exploring what is “true self” and “true form”. Certain obstacles and uncertainties can jeopardise our perception and identity, however, understanding our truth and identity initiates our path." Image 3: What is true identity? "True identity" is a multifaceted and complex concept, encompassing multiple aspects of a person's identity, such as biological, personal, and social identities. Some may link their true identities to their heritage whereas others find their "true identities" through their sexual orientation. Identity can also evolve and change as a person grows, learns, and gains new experiences.] #Indentity #TrueIdentity #Belonging #AuthenticSelf #Exhibition #ArtExhibition #DiversityAndInclusion #DiversityMatters #InclusionMatters #InclusionAndDiversity

A Path to a More Inclusive, Respectful, and Diverse Society Over the years we have been partnering with local Councils to bring First Nations and CALD artists to their events. Today we are very excited to bring CALD artista to their Canterbury- Bankstown Picnic event. Local councils play a vital role in fostering inclusive and respectful communities. One way to do this is by supporting CALD artists (culturally and linguistically diverse artists) and incorporating their work into local events. CALD artists bring a unique and valuable perspective to their work. They can help us to see the world through different eyes and challenge our assumptions. Their art can also be a powerful tool for raising awareness of important social issues and promoting social change. When local councils support CALD artists, they send a strong message that everyone is valued and respected in the community. They also create opportunities for people from different backgrounds to come together and learn from each other. Here are some ways that local councils can work with CALD artists to create more inclusive and respectful communities: Commission CALD artists to create public art. This could include murals, sculptures, or other installations. Provide funding and support for CALD artists to perform at local events. This could include festivals, fairs, and cultural celebrations. Partner with CALD community organizations to present events that showcase the work of CALD artists. Offer workshops and training programs for CALD artists. This could help them to develop their skills and networks, and to learn about the business side of the arts. By working with CALD artists, local councils can help to create a more inclusive, respectful, and diverse society. They can also use the power of the arts to address some of the most complex societal issues. #CALDArtists #Inclusion #Diversity #PublicArt #CommunityEvents #SocialChange #LocalGovernment

This past weekend our team visited the HistoryMiami Museum to evaluate the accessibility offered to museum guests. We are excited to create an inclusive social narrative to ensure every museum guest has the best experience learning about Miami's history during their visit! Alternative Text: The background of the image is white with a light green rectangular border at the bottom of the image and a thick light blue rectangular border toward the left side of the image. Toward the top right-hand corner of the image is the HistoryMiami logo. Below that, within a light green rectangular shape with rounded corners is the green NCS logo followed by capitalized bolded black text that reads, "SITE VISIT". Two years ago I co-founded an ERG for people who are mixed - ie, for people who come from 2+ races or ethnicities. As I reflect on Loving Day (today, June 12th) and Multiracial Heritage Week (this week, June 7-14), I’m looking back on the things I’ve learned through that journey. “Why?” One of the most common questions I got as we were getting started was “What made you want to create a group for mixed people?” To me, the answer was simple and clear: because there are more and more of us who don’t fit neatly into one category or box when it comes to race or cultural heritage and we should have a space to be able to come together and figure out what that means for ourselves. In my own experience navigating the world as a mixed person, I had come across fragments of mixed representation. That is, I found individuals who were mixed (mainly celebrities who could “pass” as another race and when their full heritage was revealed, the media latched onto it like it was a plot twist). Yet the conversations about being mixed seemed to come from the lens of people who were mono-racial, trying to dissect or categorize that person’s background. So I thought, wouldn’t it be amazing for us to come together and figure out what our voice is and what we want to say? Figure out how we want to be represented? Instead of other people telling us where we belong, we could figure that out for ourselves? Things I learned Thankfully, there were people and organizers that came before our group that we could learn from. Because of their work, we had resources to digest and decide if they suited us. I’m going to share some of them here in case you would like to take a little walk in the shoes of someone who is mixed. However, before you take these voices as ‘the only perspectives you need to know’ please note that the mixed experience is not singular. There are so many ways a person can be mixed that trying to encapsulate it through one or two views is bound to fail every single time. So bring an open mind, and be ready to keep exploring :) - Bill of Rights for People of Mixed Heritage: https://lnkd.in/d4Rmh8k9 - All about Loving Day: https://lovingday.org/ - Vox’s Being Mixed Race in America: https://lnkd.in/dVJ9mYEr - Pew Research Video Series - Interviews and Data on Multiracial experience: https://lnkd.in/dqFxTT5z - CodeSwitch - Racial Imposter Syndrome: https://lnkd.in/dBVdND2k #multiracialheritageweek #lovingday #mixedstories

This week further controversy follows Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), where artist of the recent ladies' only lounge installation, Kirsha Kaechele, has now revealed they faked the world renowned Piccasso paintings among other famed artists. Irrespective of the legality and ethical implications of the latest admission, it begs the question, is it ever okay to have gender exclusive spaces? Last week, we asked for your thoughts on whether female-only supports and programmes do more harm than good. To date 88% of voters agree that female-only supports and programmes deliver more benefits than potential harm. However, one might ask how do we create an inclusive world by being exclusive? Our thoughts - it’s about balance, purpose and time: ⚖ Balance: 👉 We need to do to more outside of these spaces to reduce the need for them in the first place. Often described by their curators as safe spaces, their existence confirms that participant’s external environments fail to make them feel so or lack the supports to do so. 👉 It’s important to understand why individuals not included or not participating feel discouraged or threatened by such supports and work directly with them to have clear communication on the intended purpose. Every voice should be heard. 🏹 Purpose: 👉 We need to take the time to inform audiences on the purpose of the spaces. Different spaces and programmes serve different needs. 👉 Two things can be true at the same time. The need for dedicated supports and spaces in which marginalised and underserved groups can feel supported to succeed does not negate the needs of others, and efforts towards inclusivity should continue in collaboration with such supports. ⏳ Time: 👉 We need to understand the temporal need for such spaces. Right now, such supports are needed. However, by definition, if successful, these spaces should become redundant as we grow closer to a society in which inclusion is the norm and everyone feels safe and valued in all environments. What are your thoughts? #GenderEquality #inclusion #exclusion https://lnkd.in/g9aXPVa9

Just wrapped up another enlightening ONJUSaturday live audio space session, and it was truly exceptional. Our discussions touched on the power of art, music, and diversity in shaping our cultural landscape. We dove into our recent experience at Tec Leimert and the Aziz Gallery, where we were joined by the talented Iman Europe and The Homies DAO. It was an inspiring journey through the world of art, emphasizing the importance of diverse perspectives in creative expression. One key highlight of today’s call was the resurgence of a quote by the legendary artist Jean-Michel Basquiat: "Art is how we decorate space; music is how we decorate time." This profound statement ignited a passionate conversation about how art and music not only reflect our culture but also influence it. Our very own Dean EyeSeeThru, an integral part of Ohnahji, underscored the significance of having diverse voices at the table. In higher learning, especially in fields like art history, BIPOC perspectives are often underrepresented. Our Saturday space offered a refreshing contrast by amplifying Black and Brown voices in these crucial discussions. On the topic of milestones, our recent mint party last week catapulted us to token number 4839, and we couldn't be prouder of our Ohnahji family. This journey is a testament to our commitment to showcasing the richness of the African diaspora through art and technology. The world of Ohnahji and OhnahjiU is all about empowerment, education, and innovation. We're here to bridge gaps, create opportunities, and inspire change in the emerging tech landscape. Let's continue these thought-provoking conversations and keep pushing boundaries. Together, we're redefining what's possible. #Ohnahji #ONJUSaturday #DiversityInArt #ArtAndMusic #JeanMichelBasquiat #EmergingTech #Empowerment #Education #Innovation #BIPOCInTech #CulturalDiversity #ArtisticExpression #ONJUFamily #EmpowerChange Join us in shaping a more inclusive and creative future.

Arts & Culture Major Group for the United Nations This is an opportunity for creative practitioners (artists and cultural workers) as well as those who work in the arts and culture sector to share their thoughts, ideas and concerns about making this group inclusive, democratic and effective. Major Groups, also known as MGoS, provide an autonomous and self-organizing platform for social groups and societal constituencies committed to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This includes its follow-up and review process, with specific attention to year-round preparations for the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). Individuals involved in the #arts and #culture fields are all welcome. It's essential to note that we are actively creating space for innovative practitioners. The voices of #artists and cultural workers are integral to policymaking and sustainability efforts.
