WORDS THAT #ADVERTISING HAS TAUGHT ME NEW MEANINGS FOR - #2 Word: Revisit Stress level: Depends Revisitation rights are reserved by two parties only. The client, of course, and the agency head honcho. The only two people who had no part in the work, and therefore hold carte blanche when it comes to questioning fundamental assumptions on which said work was built. Anything can be revisited. A piece of creative, a strategy deck, an agency brief, a client brief, research data. Each with an accompanying level of devastation. When a client revisits, it is relatively less stressful, because though vast tracts of work are laid waste, the agency usually gets a few days to come back with fresh thinking. The agency head honcho revisiting is a very different keg of gunpowder. It usually happens on the morning of the presentation. And the meeting time does. not. change. Example: Boss just saw the festive promo ads. He wants to revisit the motherbrand’s purpose.

Here are 5 marketing pet peeves that triggered me today.  Please add yours!. 1.     Billboards that are so busy the text is unreadable even in standstill traffic. 2.     TV Ad campaigns that just won’t change. If the humor was only borderline amusing 10 years ago it’s time to free the bird.    3.     Bad grammar isn’t literary license, it just sounds stupid. For example, “Gotta Get” never sounds smart. 4.     Videos that drag on without answering the most important question first, "Why do I care?” 5.     All spam emails, robocalls, and unsolicited text messages.  #marketingdigital #marketingagency #branding #media #creativeagency

“the length of our copy … cont” – What’s Body Copy Part 10 Last night, I said there is no hard rule on how long our copy should be. It depends on the goal of your message. But here’s the catch: the platform we are using may restrict the length of our copy. A good example is our good ol’ short message service (SMS) where every character counts. Another example is where every inch counts, like placing an advertisement in a magazine or newsletter. And another one is where every second counts, like commercial ads on TV or radio. Some of these platforms are expensive. So make sure you know what you are doing before investing in these platforms.

The biggest take away from helping Floor Coverings International, Katie, and Stacey find their dream agency partner? Foundation. Some asks I help with are easy. Straight forward. Black and white. Cut and dry. This one, was not. The bigger the scope, the more ways it can be sliced. It took me several hours of conversations with the brand to define what they were looking for.
