Understanding the struggles and discrimination faced by generations of LGBTQ+ people is the first step in building a healthcare system based on trust and care. Let's continue to educate ourselves and work towards a more equitable future for all. June is Pride Month! 🏳️🌈 For the month of June, we'll have some weekly LGBTQ+ Housing facts for you. The LGBTQ+ community tends to be significantly younger than the non-LGBTQ+ population. Specifically, 52% of individuals identifying as LGBTQ+ are under 35 years old, while only 23% of those identifying as straight and cisgender fall into the same age group. These age disparities account for roughly half of the difference in homeownership rates between LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ individuals, as younger people are generally less likely to own homes compared to older individuals.

Let's erase the taboo and open up conversations about menstruation in the LGBTQ+ community! It affects us all, regardless of gender identity. Among many other issues faced by the lgbtq+ community members, getting periods every month also affects them in various ways. As some individuals face additional stigma and discrimination related to menstruation due to societal prejudices, breaking this stigma can be crucial for their overall well-being. With the help of this post we are here to spread awareness as discussing menstruation can lead to a more supportive environment within the LGBTQ+ community. From Question Marks to Understanding- Uncovering the Health and Wellbeing of Our LGBTQ+ community. A video accompanying my report showcases the lives of local people and allies in the LGBTQ+ community, with first-hand accounts of the impact of their experiences. https://lnkd.in/esNeumDq Limited data on the LGBTQ+ community makes it difficult to understand their health and wellbeing needs and the inequalities they face. LGBTQ+ people are more likely than others to feel isolated or lonely. Nationally, one in three LGBTQ+ young people experience mental health difficulties, compared to one in eight in the general population. One in seven LGBTQ+ people avoid treatment for fear of discrimination. There are three key things we can all do to support our LGBTQ+ community. These are to keep questioning our assumptions, actively support their visibility and promote their representation across all areas. #LBGT #publichealth
