Today is, a day to celebrate the right of everyone to live a full and productive life with dignity. Zero Discrimination Day also reminds us of the need to challenge the prejudices and inequalities that fuel discrimination and exclusion. As consumer advocates, we believe that every consumer deserves fair and equal treatment in the marketplace, regardless of their race, gender, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or any other factor. We also believe that every consumer has the right to access quality goods and services, to be informed and educated about their choices and rights, and to seek redress when they are harmed or deceived. That is why we at Consumers Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation (CADEF) work tirelessly to protect and promote consumer rights, to expose and combat unfair and deceptive business practices, and to empower consumers to make informed and responsible decisions. We also collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders to create a more inclusive and sustainable consumer culture. Join us today and every day in our mission to end discrimination and ensure justice for all consumers. Together, we can make a difference and create a better world for everyone. #zerodiscrimination #consumerrights #consumeradvocacy #cadefng #nigeria

Human rights are universal and should be afforded to every individual, irrespective of their background or status. Often, marginalized groups face systemic discrimination, limited access to opportunities, and violations of their basic rights. The voices of the marginalized become a powerful tool in highlighting these injustices, advocating for equal treatment, and demanding the protection of their human rights. By amplifying these voices, societies can address systemic inequalities and work towards creating a more inclusive and rights - respecting environment for all. Today marks the International Day Against Racial Discrimination. The struggle against racism, is not limited to one day alone! It is an ongoing, continuous, journey that MUST engage all of us. Now more than ever, it's crucial to stand in solidarity against all forms of racial discrimination and to actively work towards creating equitable opportunities for everyone, regardless of their race or ethnicity. Here are some actionable steps we can take to work towards anti-racism: 1. Educate ourselves and others about the impact of racism and systemic discrimination. Engage in open conversations and workshops to deepen our understanding. 2. Listen to the experiences of people of color and amplify their voices. Create spaces for open dialogue and actively seek out diverse perspectives. 3.Challenge our own biases and actively confront discriminatory behavior and language, both overt and subtle. Let's use today as a reminder to not only reflect on the importance of anti-racism but also to take meaningful action towards creating a more just and equitable world. #InternationalDayAgainstRacialDiscrimination #DiversityandInclusion #EndRacialDiscrimination #AntiRacism

I listened to the very short debate in the NC legislature as they considered an override of their governor's veto of a care ban. A LGBTQ member of the Senate rose to speak on dehumanization. She was doing her best to explain why targeting youth with a gender-affirming care ban is fundamentally anti-LGBTQ, despite the protests of her opposition, when another member rose to object to the "non-germane" nature of her comments. Think about that. An NC senator committed to going the extra mile to target trans youth by banning care is so sensitive about his actions that he tried to muzzle a Senate colleague. It's hard to explain how it feels to have a trans child and listen to this "debate." Because when state GOPs exclude trans kids from sports, forbid discussion of their identities in class, exclude them from the right bathroom, dictate what markers they can choose for their birth certificates, and even reach into the exam room to yank them away from their doctors--yes, they ARE dehumanizing my child by making him into a political football or a talking point while ignoring the REALITY of his existence. And look at how much energy they have to expend to do just that. I want to be really clear about the results. These laws help NO ONE. I have seen ZERO evidence that straight kids benefit from the persecution of LGBTQ youth. And how in the world would they benefit? But while they don't help anyone, these laws do very significant harm to LGBTQ people everywhere. Read these survey results and really try to internalize what it would mean for states all over the country to target and exclude people with a characteristic that is central to YOUR identity. Obviously, my racialized colleagues and friends reading this post will find that extremely easy, as it reflects current and past reality for them. LGBTQ people, trans people, are real human beings. Your friends, colleagues, community members. Perhaps, as in my case, your immediate family. Fight for them. Trans rights are human rights. Human rights are not negotiable.
