"The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced today that New York is the first state in the nation to launch their Home Energy Rebates program, created by the Inflation Reduction Act. New York’s program will allow more low-and-middle income families to take advantage of efficiency and clean energy upgrades that will make their homes more comfortable while saving money on their energy bills. New York’s launch is part of a larger nationwide initiative to provide $8.8 billion in Federal funding for states, territories, and Tribes to lower energy costs and increase efficiency in American homes by making it cheaper to install cost-saving measures such as heat pumps, electrical panels, and insulation." https://lnkd.in/gQbeBFxX

New York was the first state to be approved for the IRA's state-specific incentives, receiving $158 million to implement its rebate program and help families save money on energy-efficient electric appliances. 11 other states have already applied for funding, which could create an impactful shift in the utilization of the Inflation Reduction Act. I hope to see all of these states get approved and adoption rates soar throughout 2024: https://bit.ly/3wA0C8Y #InflationReductionAct

New York is the first state in the U.S. to make home electrification rebates under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) available to its residents, having received a grant for the initial tranche of $39.6 million in federal funding for the program. That is 25% of the $158.4 million state is expected to receive in total. New York has not yet applied for funding under the IRA's whole home efficiency rebate program, for which it is expected to receive an additional $159 million. Only 16 other states have applied for funding under one or both programs, and Florida Gov. Ron Desantis has said publicly that his state will refuse these funds (which will eventually be reallocated to participating states). NEFI continues to monitor rollout of the IRA rebate programs closely. #InflationReductionAct #IRA #HomeEfficiency #HomeEnergy #HomeEnergyRebates #IRArebates #Electrificaton #HVAC #HVACR #HomeEfficiencyRebates

To quickly launch the Inflation Reduction Act HOMES Program, states should stand up measured savings pilot programs. In measured pilot programs, states can ask aggregators to take on more responsibility and accountability for program inputs. In turn, state energy offices and their implementation partners can spend more time and budget on other program elements. https://lnkd.in/eWcjv7_7

The sheer scale of the #InflationReductionAct — the single largest #climate and #energy investment in US history — has fixated public attention. But much of the law’s success will rest on the individual purchasing decisions made within homes across the country. 🏡 The collective actions of households are powering a historic effort to modernize the US energy system. If the right steps are taken now, homeowners will have the power to unlock their transformative potential to increase system resilience, accelerate decarbonization, and bolster economic stability — while benefitting their pocketbooks. 🔆 One year after President Biden signed the IRA into law, the United States is on the precipice of an unheralded #cleanenergy revolution that will transform the US economy and deliver meaningful benefits within US homes. 🎉 To mark the IRA’s anniversary, I put my journalism hat back on to write about what this revolution looks like for the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center. 📰 https://lnkd.in/gKzKq8ZN #sustainability #solarpower #homeimprovement #electrifyeverything #efficiency #solarpowers #IRA #rebates #taxcredits
