This is an exciting anniversary and time to underscore the Community Development Block Program’s tremendous impact nationwide! These funds have and continue to empower communities to shape their own future and create a better quality of life for their residents. #CDBG Programs provide: ✅ Targeted Assistance: The CDBG program is designed to target and assist low- and moderate-income individuals and communities, as well as address the needs of vulnerable populations - such as the elderly, disabled, and low-income families. ✅ Expansive Offerings | Focused Outcomes: CDBG programs provide resources for affordable housing 🏠 , job training 👩🏻🏫, social services 🏢, and other programs - benefiting these populations - that help to reduce poverty and promote social equity. ✅ Flexibility: The CDBG program offers flexibility in how funds are allocated and used. Local governments have the flexibility to determine the specific projects and activities that best meet the needs of their #communities. This allows for tailored approaches that address unique local challenges and priorities. ✅ Disaster Recovery: The CDBG program plays a crucial role in disaster recovery efforts. When communities are affected by natural disasters, CDBG funds can be used for emergency relief, housing repair/replacement/reconstruction, infrastructure repair, and other recovery activities. This helps communities rebuild and recover more quickly, minimizing the long-term impact of disasters. IEM provides intelligent design and integrated solutions to ensure communities recover quickly as part of our mission to build a safer, secure, and more resilient world 🌎. We are excited to continue partnering with communities to provide novel solutions and tailored approaches to realize their individual needs and visions for recovery, resilience, and sustainability. CDBG: You may have turned 50, but you don’t look a day over 21 😜🥂 #communitydevelopment #disasterrecovery #affordablehousing #HUD #TeamIEM
In 2024, the CDBG program turns 50! 🎊 Since its development, the Community Development Block Grant program has been a vital source of funding for communities nationwide, addressing crucial areas like infrastructure, economic development, housing, disaster recovery, and other community needs. Throughout 2024, our coalition is gearing up with events and activities to spotlight all of the exciting facets of CDBG. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with HUD, the Administration, and Congress to honor the accomplishments of the past five decades. Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare to celebrate this exciting milestone!

Did you know Imagine Housing has 183 subsidized units which reimburses at 3x the affordable housing rent. 110 tenants not living in subsidized units pay less than 30% of their income for rent. these rents range from 5% to 29% of their gross income for housing. This occurs because Imagine Housing does not use affordable housing allowed practices of AMI reclassification and the Over Income Clause 62 tenant households pay what is considered not rent burdened and pay 30% to 39% of their gross income for rent. 183 Imagine households are rent burdened from 40% to 100% of their gross income. Imagine allows tenants to sign a lease when their income is 1.5 X the affordable Housing rent amount. Please consider giving to Imagine having a in house subsidy program for these 183 families. This important in-house subsidy program need will increase when Samma in Bothell is completed, and leasing begins.
As we prepare for Building Community Together next Friday, we'd like to give a special thank you to our event sponsors. Together, you are showing the community that you actively engage in a cause that positively impacts our entire community: the creation of permanent affordable housing for low-income families and individuals, along with services to help them thrive.

SATURDAY MORNING (JUNE 29TH) at 9:30 AM our amazing Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque will be having our next Community Clean-Up (ABQ)! For this Community Clean-Up our volunteers will be meeting up at and cleaning Los Altos Park, located at 10100 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 (Meet-Up will be in the parking lot off Eubank next to Sonic) Youth participation is strongly encouraged, so children are welcome to join! NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. Some research even shows that a nice-looking neighborhood promotes good behavior. Join us in keeping your community clean! For more information: https://lnkd.in/gEdMKf_s #TeamWhoIAm_Albuquerque
