📽 Henrik Johnsson on CNBC: Market Conditions and a 'Goldilocks Soft Landing' Henrik Johnsson, our Co-Head of the Investment Bank EMEA, shares his insights on CNBC, discussing the best conditions for primary issuance in over two years. With credit spreads and equity markets at all-time lows and highs respectively, investors are highly receptive to primary issuance. Key Highlights: ➡️ IG Corporate Bond Market: Up 30% YoY, with a $60bn increase compared to last year. ➡️ Subordinated Financial issuance: Up over 100%, reflecting a capital retirement theme from banks and well as increased lending ➡️ Leverage Finance Markets: Surpassing last year's full year volumes already Henrik attributes this to a 'Goldilocks soft landing' where rates are expected to come down due to slowing inflation rather than economic underperformance, with robust company performance underpinning the market. However, he notes potential risks from geopolitical events and frontloading ahead of the US election season. 💡 For more insights, watch his full interview. #InvestmentBanking #MarketConditions #DeutscheBank #CNBC #GoldilocksEconomy #FinanceNews

The problem is, when your core capital is weak, any weakness on the other side is exponentially worse. But if Treasurys go up to 6, 7 [percent on yields], then the leverage goes up exponentially, right? That's your core capital. That's the money when you go to the casino you have to put up at the table. Rates may increase then level off for extended period of time.
