Living with PTSD can be challenging for veterans, but it doesn't mean they can't lead fulfilling lives. Support services and treatments are available to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. With the right help, veterans can lead productive lives, achieve goals, and contribute to their communities. Many find a unique perspective on life, resilience, and purpose through their experiences with PTSD. While challenging, veterans can still lead rewarding lives with support and treatment. #hummingbirdhavenhelps #livingwithPTSD

PTSD is an every day challenge for many, it doesn’t just affect military/veterans/first responders… anything traumatic in your life can generate symptoms of PTSD. Take the time to analyze your habits and if you need to talk to somebody there are many specialists out there. But the most important thing I can say to you, today, is that you are not alone. You. Are Not. Alone. If you’re feeling suicidal please, please, call somebody or talk to someone. Just dial 988. Do not feel ashamed, but more importantly know that you are not alone. 988- professionals are available 24/7.
During the month of June, join us in recognizing PTSD awareness month as we attempt to reach as many veterans, first responders and those struggling with their battles as possible. Please take time to check on friends, neighbors and strangers because you never know who might be struggling. Not all wounds are visible. It’s okay to not be okay. Struggling? Let’s talk about it. #SAVE22 #OneFight

Did you know? Parents of children with congenital heart disease (CHD) face significantly higher rates of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) compared to the general population. Research indicates that up to 30% of these parents experience PTSD symptoms, while over 80% report significant trauma-related symptoms. Additionally, between 25% and 50% of these parents suffer from elevated levels of depression and anxiety, with 30% to 80% experiencing severe psychological distress. Mothers, in particular, are disproportionately affected. This heightened risk is attributed to several factors, including the postpartum period, which coincides with the first surgeries, and the fact that mothers often bear the brunt of caregiving responsibilities. The mental health challenges faced by these parents can adversely impact their ability to care for their children, highlighting the necessity for integrated mental health support within pediatric cardiology care. This could include regular mental health screenings and accessible treatment options to better support these families.
PTSD can affect anyone who has experienced trauma, not just veterans. At the PTSD Foundation of America, we’re dedicated to spreading awareness and understanding about this often-misunderstood condition. By educating our community, we can break the stigma and support those in need. Join us in making a difference! #PTSDAwareness #MentalHealthMatters #SupportAndUnderstanding #PTSDFoundationOfAmerica

June is PTSD Awareness Month. As the spouse of a retired law-enforcement officer, who has walked the long path of PTSD for years, I have a deep understanding of the impact it can have on the one we love, our families, and ourselves. It takes courage, commitment, and perseverance to fight this battle. It’s never been Doug’s fight alone. It’s our fight together, and together, we continue to beat it back into it’s deep cave. Remember, the wounds may be invisible, but the pain these wounds cause, often, are extreme. If you know someone who is or may be struggling with post-traumatic stress, please take the time to educate youself and understand. Then, spread that knowledge and normalize the conversation. In the words of our dear friends Brent and Victoria Newman…One Team, One Fight! Together we make a difference. Together we save lives. #ptsdawarenessmonth #survivefirst #firstresponders #mentalhealthawareness

Survivor Intelligence is the ability to heal in the wake of trauma. AnnieCannons believes that to appropriately support survivors, a trauma-informed approach should be included across all our trafficking efforts. Being a trauma-informed organization, we recognize symptoms of trauma and design all interactions to our survivors in such a way that we avoid the potential of retraumatization. By doing so, our students can navigate PTSD symptoms while presenting a project in front of a group for the first time, can seek help when life starts to feel overwhelming, and they can support a peer in learning new skill sets. Join us in investing in these unique and transformative forms of intelligence.
