To ALL Ship Operators and Operations Managers in my network!! What guidance would you offer to new operators seeking to optimize revenue during a voyage? The exchange of data and information is crucial, and I'm convinced that we can all gain from this collaboration. Given the declining rates, cost-saving measures on every voyage are imperative. Is there a particular practice during a voyage that you routinely follow, but have observed that others might be unaware of and which could lead to cost savings?

Empowering Small & Medium Manufacturing Companies to Boost Efficiency, Increase Capacity, and Cut Costs without Investment
I’ve traveled a lot over the past few years for continuous improvement activities. I’ve visited more than 15 countries and I don’t know how many airports.. ✈ Since we moved to America last 4 years, we’ve been traveling frequently between Istanbul and Atlanta.. We recently took another flight from Istanbul to Atlanta airport.. It was one of the most tiring trip, not only because the direct flight itself was 11 hours but also because of the experience at Atlanta airport.. It was one of the worst.. It took us 2,5 hours to get the cart, get the luggages and get out of the airport.. Everything was so slow.. I even waited in line for half an hour to get a cart.. After that we had to drive in the middle of the night for long hours and added more fatigue on top of the jet lag. Waiting is a hidden enemy.. especially in business… It is one of the 7 types of Waste.. It is a waste of time, capacity and resources.. 🌟If you look purposely, you will see them everywhere.. Changeover, missing material, long approval procedures, quality issues, quality testing, no operator, machine breakdown.. These are some of the reasons for waiting.. In our case, I think the main reason was the missing operator.. 🤔 It has been a common problem in America for a while.. **** 🌟I can share some ideas to reduce waste.. ❇ A well detailed scheduling will reduce waiting ❇ Reduce changeover time ❇ Increase communication within your business - make sure cross functions talks to each other, so they know if the material is late or there is a major maintenance within the facility ❇ Keep the approval procedure simple. Do you really need your plant manager or VP to approve something? ***** But still, there is one more waiting which is my favorite.. Waiting someone for a meeting 😶 What is your favorite one? https://lnkd.in/eiWMUWJ3 Oooh, I can imagine those who designed the test cases during the build phase feeling a bit sheepish at the moment. Graceful error handling, threat management, systematic shutdown and claw back, so many questions that spring to my mind. Collective ownership is such a key value when building any product, which is why it’s so valuable for product managers to be working closely with testers. Product ownership is so vital across the entire lifecycle of the product, including the maintenance phase. “One in 15 million” isn’t good enough excuse to let this happen. Ever.
