It's been a year filled with growth, partnerships, and memorable personal moments. Here are five key events that made 2023 truly exceptional: 1. Capri Secures Funding from Midven: One of the most thrilling moments of the year was the successful funding secured by Capri for our AI-driven triaging app(TriVice). This funding from Midven is not just an investment; it's a testament to the potential of our innovative healthcare solution. With this support, we are poised to take our triaging app TriVice to the market, revolutionising how healthcare is delivered, improving patient outcomes and freeing up clinician's time to spend more time with patients. 2. Vikram and Helen's Cross-Cultural Wedding Extravaganza: Celebrating love and unity, the union of Vikram and Helen was a highlight that transcended borders. Their wedding, held against the stunning backdrop of Scotland and Neemrana Fort in India, beautifully blended two cultures and brought together people from six different countries. The newlyweds embarked on an inspiring journey, pursuing their shared passion for medicine at Cambridge University. After two years of dedicated NHS training, they recently ventured to New Zealand, eager to gain invaluable experience in the medical field. 3. Capri's Collaboration with Leading Eye Emergency Hospital: Capri's commitment to enhancing healthcare reached new heights with the signing of a two-year contract with a leading eye emergency hospital in the Midlands. - Standards are amazing - USB, SQL, REST, JSON and so many more. - Standards are ok but slow, eg FIHR. - Standards are friction creating when scoped wrong- eg cloud computing portability. Advice: create balance across vendors and pick the right level. Eg objective is acceleration of smart hospital; but start with practical items within it that are actionable vs top down vague concepts. Better standards will help more innovative vendors and hospitals firsr and that is a great objective to pull the industry towards positive innovation faster !

I've recently been seeking out others in the private GP sector to grow my network - a big thanks to everyone who has connected! One reason for my outreach is that, with my work at the intersection of two rapidly evolving fields in the UK (Digital Health (I am a Medical Director in the weight loss sector) and in-person Private GP (my wife and I have launched our own Private GP clinic in Buckinghamshire), I feeI there is lots to both learn & share in these areas. My dual role has led me to ponder: when individuals face a specific health issue not adequately addressed by the NHS, what's the optimal path for seeking treatment? The emergence of online healthcare companies providing solutions for various health concerns has made virtual consultations increasingly appealing. However, the option of seeing a private GP in person still holds value. The age-old question persists: "can you effectively treat me without a physical examination?" Given my position bridging both digital and in-person healthcare, I often find myself discussing with patients who are unsure about the best approach for their healthcare needs. Each avenue - virtual and in-person - offers valuable solutions, catering to different preferences and comfort levels. While virtual services offer convenience and seamless treatments, some patients feel uneasy relying solely on virtual interactions. So which option should a patient choose? In my opinion, the answer is subjective: the 'best option' is whatever makes the patient feel most comfortable. While innovation has significantly enhanced the safety of online healthcare in recent years, some individuals may still feel hesitant about fully online care. In such cases, seeking assistance from an in-person private GP can instil reassurance and trust. The knowledge that a healthcare professional has examined them firsthand, before then offering personalised care, is comforting. I often find that individuals who book in to see me at our Private GP clinic have previously explored the possibility of weight loss and men's health treatment plans online before getting jitters. Similarly, my wife receives inquiries about women's health concerns after similar trepidation with online options. As GPs, we are trained to be 'jacks of all trades', and it can be challenging to feel confident, as well as to provide the continual ongoing advice, support, and monitoring often required for a prolonged treatment plan. Conversely, online providers often focus on a single care pathway ('vertical care'), leading to confidence in their specific expertise. It's crucial for us in our private GP clinics to have the necessary training and tools to confidently offer similar or better quality care.
