Climate Crisis News 🌎 Our planet's oceans are facing an unprecedented increase in heat for the second consecutive year. 🌊🔥 This alarming trend, defying explanations by known phenomena like El Niño or volcanic activities, hints at a rapid and fundamental shift in our climate system. 🤔 With ocean temperatures rocketing 1 to 3 degrees Celsius above the norm, we're facing the warmest atmospheric conditions in over 100,000 years. 🚨 As we navigate these uncharted waters, the urgency to understand and adapt to this warming has never been greater. 💡Embracing and prioritizing adaptation strategies to physical climate risks is not just the best startegic decision, it is must. 🔎 #ActNow #ClimateAdaptation https://lnkd.in/eTX4dX5s

Scientist and our young generations have warned about it but, Politicians have continued ignoring climate change building more coal powered power-plants as well as building massively unneeded infrastructure projects using carbon emitting concrete. Having already smashed the 1.5°C threshold earlier this year, we managed to smash the much dreaded and warned about 2°C threshold on two consecutive days this November during the already hottest year to date in history. Will we ever learn or are we doomed to extinction because we are not prepared to change our comfortable way of life? And, how comfortable will this way of life be if hundreds of millions will be displaced and thousands will die because of record temperatures? Our planet is now in a heating spiral and, meeting the 2°C goal is no longer enough. We need to take steps to reverse the global warming or there won't be much left for our children and grandchildren. Ocean temperatures are rising too and no one fully knows what this will mean for us. More extreme weather for sure but what about our food supply. Prevention has always been expensive but, much less so than the costs after a disaster https://lnkd.in/eBhyzjQx #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #ElNino #CarbonEmissions

Global warming will exceed 1.5°C in months and hit 2°C in a few decades unless we take purposeful actions to restore Earth’s energy balance and climate, in addition to rapidly reducing emissions warns Dr. James Hansen renowned former NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration climate scientist. His 1988 testimony to Congress put climate change in the political spotlight. He emphasized that those actions include climate interventions amongst CDR and nature restoration. “We need to research, urgently, all of the above because plausible emission reductions will not be enough.” #climate #climaterisks #climateinterventions #globalwarming #aerosols #climatescience #research

Global air and ocean temperatures soared to a record high in July, according to the EU’s climate change service Copernicus, deepening concern among climate scientists at a time when a spate of heat records suggest the planet has entered uncharted territory. The EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) said Tuesday that the global average surface air temperature in July was confirmed to be the highest on record for any month. C3S and the U.N.’s World Meteorological Organization recently recognized the first three weeks of July as hottest three-week period on record. Find out more here: https://cnb.cx/446ei65

ALERT # 5: On Dec 9th the Climate Change Institute changed their Sourcing from the NOAA Model to the Copernicus Model, which they claim runs a little Colder. The final sentence on the explanation page is a real Confidence Booster: "Disclaimer: Contains modified Copernicus Climate Change Service information 2023. Neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use that may be made of the Copernicus information or data it contains." No one is Responsible and No one is accountable for the Temperatures we (as in Copernicus) will be telling you are the All-Time Heat Records and the Global Boiling Records. Ok, that makes sense, they tell you up front that you cannot really Trust anything they tell you, alrighty then! Staring tomorrow I will be posting the results of the Re-Construction of the Summer of 2023 and how COLD it really got on Antarctica. You will not believe it! This is all for Today, for EST is 10:59 pm, and I am signing off. I save off these Graphs every Day for the Records of my 20-Station Model, just in case anyone wants the Challenge me on something? My record shows -13.9 C for Dec 03,2023. (the old NOAA Model) The New and Improved Copernicus Model shows -13.7 C for Dec 03, 2023. I am not so sure this is really an improvement, but I am not a Scientist! 😉

Spiraling towards climate chaos This transfixing visualization from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration shows over 140 years of monthly annual temperature observations. The signal of human-caused global warming became apparent decades ago, and now we are racing towards an ever more hostile and unfamiliar climate. Global average temperatures now exceed 1 C over preindustrial levels and are on track to regularly exceed 1.5 C in several short years. We need an all-hands-on-deck effort to stop this chaos. Governments, financial institutions, corporates, NGOs, and citizens all have roles to play in preserve a livable climate. https://lnkd.in/erJeNEEE #climate #climatechange #climateaction #climatescience #climateaction #netzero #decarbonization #emissions #co2 #ghg #climaterisks #sustainability #linkedincreators #cop28 #visualization
