Ok, so the Rabbit R1 is a little device running an Android app. Which begs the question: Why not just ship it as an app for phones? From a marketing perspective, it's hard to imagine commensurate hype coming from an app alone. From a customer perspective, it's hard to imagine the experience offered by the dedicated device is worth the burden of lugging it around. At least the Humane pin is always out and not an extra thing to carry around. That being said, I love Teenage Engineering designs. Can I get some likes for a Teenage Engineering Phone?!?! https://lnkd.in/gvMqHj7N #rabbitr1 #teenageengineering #humane

Android 15's First Beta Release is Out: Android 15's first public beta is available to download now, provided you have a Pixel phone. From a report: It's the first consumer-facing release after two developer previews, and while we have a good idea of what to expect from Google's next mobile OS version, we'll certainly hear more at the company's annual developer conference soon enough. The blog post highlighting updates in today's release covers some pretty pedestrian stuff. Apps will scale edge to edge by default and will draw behind translucent system bars on the top and bottom of the screen, rather than around them. There's OS-level support for app archiving and unarchiving so third-party app stores can take advantage of this feature. Android 15 will also provide better support for Braille displays.M Read more of this story at Slashdot.

Reuven Cohen shared a great article breaking down the Rabbit R1 and how it can be cloned as an Android app 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 (Note: Rabbit responded explaining their side) Setting aside the controversy and taking off my AI hat 🔮🎩and thinking through the lens of experience, I’m still interested in new form factors for AI devices. Strong opinion, loosely held (#SOLH) the phone is not the final or perfect device, and the only way we accelerate innovation in AI devices is for companies like Rabbit and Humane to keep experimenting. I believe if Jobs was around he would have cannablized the phone by launching an AI device, by now. I’m a hardcore Apple guy and love how they create experiences, but one experience I’ve come to dislike is Siri. At some level, why I’m so bullish on Humane is that they have a who’s who of Apple experience talent: https://lnkd.in/gXRgyAHA — I’m not counting them out just because an influencer found v1 of the device imperfect. Let’s not forget the iPhone v1 was not great (crappy phone and email; no AppStore.) The same way phone manufacturers, Blackberry and wireless companies didn’t invent the iPhone, the incumbents are not pushing the envelope on the future of devices. I still hear Ballmer’s laugh every time I hear someone complain about Humane and Rabbit https://lnkd.in/gcSJbBHb
I could build this in a few hours. Turns out the Rabbit R1 was just an Android app all along. https://lnkd.in/gA3RKcHC
