First HITEC officially in the books! ✅ had an incredible time with my team Ted Ismert Chris Antoline, meeting amazing people, and learning about everything from industry trends shaping the future and tactical strategies to succeed in this new age of hospitality. To nobody’s surprise, AI and personalization were the hot topics. I truly believe that embracing technology & innovation is so important for creating incredible guest experiences, streamlining operations, and driving revenue growth. At the end of the day, I think the human element will always still be there and the ultimate goal is going to be striking the right balance. There were many great keynotes / speakers, but I wanted to share a few highlights that resonated: 📍 Glenn Haussman and Anthony Melchiorri ➡ thank you for the energy and humor your brought to the keynote! I loved how you simplified the guest journey: plan, book, stay, talk. Overcomplicating it can lead to using the right technology in the wrong way, which creates the very friction you’re trying to avoid. Technology must provide 1️⃣ comfort, 2️⃣ convenience, and 3️⃣ efficiency 📍 Rohan Jani and Rodney Linville ➡ after hot water and a comfy bed, wifi is paramount to guests. I loved the example they used about the thermostat - if someone likes the room at 68 degrees, why not have it at that temp once they arrive? It seems simple, but changes like these can make all the difference 📍 Derek Harasiuk and Tracee Nalewak-Giraldo ➡ we are in an experience economy and they talked about the importance of using technology to capitalize on revenue from experiences (cabanas, shows, etc.) - these are often considered “ancillary”, but they challenged us to see these as a key driver of hotel revenue & the guest experience Final thoughts after my first HITEC…it’s a really exciting time to be in this industry and I’m so psyched to be a part of it. When I did my solo backpacking trip around the world, it lit a spark within me to pursue a career in this industry so I can help others have unforgettable experiences as well. This is one of the reasons I’m excited about what we’ve built at Attractions.io with our wayfinding + mobile app platform, which is helping guests have personalized experiences they won’t forget. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in learning more and thanks again to everyone I met - I look forward to seeing many of you soon!
