Why I'd be an asset to your organization, Day 20.
Frankly, I like to work.
Sure, it's important to work for financial reasons. But beyond being economically necessary, working has always been a huge part of my identity, and something I find very rewarding.
Even before I started my “career”, I worked essentially non-stop since age 12: cutting lawns, working at a pharmacy, working at a coffee shop, working for the Parks Department, working as a research assistant and writing tutor in college, a brief stint as a journalist, summer internships, working as a hotel concierge, and more…
Sure, I’ve kept myself plenty busy in the last ~4 weeks: pursuing my next opportunity (a job in and of itself), spending extra time with my kiddos, working on some projects around the house, learning some new things…It’s not all bad.
But I am absolutely *itching* to get back to deploying my professional skills, interacting with teammates and peers, and contributing to the success of something larger. The unfortunate part of my situation is that I really loved the work I had recently been doing and took a great deal of pride in doing it well.
Warning: if you hire me, it’s very likely that I’ll allude to movie quotes in my daily interactions (including, but not limited to, The Big Lebowski).
