Founder and CEO at Foodnest | TEDx Speaker | Entrepreneur | Nutritionist|IIMB NSRCEL Alumni | CornellMaha60
Yesterday when I was discussing about product development with our interns at Food Nest, Ishwari Tapre rightly questioned, do nutritionists really have any good role in food industry. I proudly explained, nutritionists have a big role in food industry. My basic post graduate degree in Nutrition has helped me a lot in product development as we think beyond a good shelf life product. Understanding food science, the absorption of particular nutrients, bioavailability of food, combination of nutrients to make it a complete amino acid profile, all of this is extremely important to develop a genuine product. Food industries are now hiring nutritionists also for different roles and responsibilities and it makes me happy. As more than a decade back, when I wanted to join a company, my Masters degree in nutrition was not relevant. Today I proudly take Nutrition Science interns as well as hire them based on their capabilities! #nutritionists #foodindustry #productdevelopment #researchanddevelopment #healthysnacking

When you got tired of working in the lab; you bring the work to your kitchen 🙃. The perks of being a food technologist/scientist. Did you know that sprouting seeds is a green and easy way to improve their nutritional value? Sprouting can increase seeds' protein content, essential amino acids, protein digestibility, antioxidants and vitamins. They may look humble, but these mungbeans are packed with nutrients. Plus, these are more tasty than the store-bought ones (totally objective opinion from the one who made and cooked them😉). Do you think we can contribute to the seeds' work of making themselves more nutritious? Maybe. That's what I'm trying to find out. Well, some of that and a little bit more. Hay naku. It's a conundrum to want to do so much with limited time -PhD candidate.

Food Technologist | FSSC 22000 v5.1 Lead Auditor | 9 Years of Experience in the Food Industry | Driving Food Safety Excellence and Innovation
Why are food technology engineers undervalued compared to other fields? Consider an IT engineer who starts at 3LPA and can reach 24-36 LPA within 3-4 years. In contrary, food technologists often begin at 1.8 to 2 LPA (15-18k per month) and may only reach 10 LPA after years, unless they attain high-level positions like GM or departmental head. Recently, I stumbled upon a job vacancy seeking a person with 10 years of experience in food technology, yet offering a salary of only 10 LPA. This disparity raises questions about the company's budget and the value placed on expertise. To all if there are any severe circumstances you will stop making softwares or machinaries but you will not stop eating food. #foodtechnology #foodindustry Day 1 Sagar

Why food technology?? #chap1 This question has crossed your path numerous times, spanning from your college years to your professional career. The most common answer during my college was like - I had a desire to explore something different from the usual engineering disciplines. (This is my reason too 😅) - didn't get admission in dairy technology. (Yes 😂) - It seemed to be the only viable choice in that situation. - took admission by chance. However, if your selection of food technology was driven by a common or conventional reason, This is for u (if you are regretting your decision) Food technology unfolds numerous doors of opportunity for those unwilling to remain idle by the windows of regret and instead aspire to seek out possibilities. The only requirement is the willingness to take action. Undoubtedly, as a food technologist, your career has the potential to expand across a wide spectrum of opportunities. The scope of a food technologist's career goes beyond the confines of QA, QC, and Production and it includes various departments within the industry like Research and Development, Sales, as well as the Purchase department. Your skills have the potential to contribute effectively across these different areas. It also opens up opportunities for you to venture into entrepreneurship and start your own business. Starting from consulting, auditing, Government jobs and what not!! Undoubtedly, one of the notable challenges of this field is its requirement for considerable patience, especially during the initial phase of one's career, which often involves enduring struggles. However, during this phase, the crucial aspect is to focus on skill development. Once a certain level of experience is reached, there is no looking back. After all, One thing is very sure opportunity will not going to find you, you should find them.
