This article helps provide a better understanding to mental health. For so long mental health was not taken seriously, and slowly it is, there is still so much progress to be made. Many people feel that they may be judged due to their mental health, so they keep their struggles quiet. There can be misconceptions in the workplace for example, that someone struggling with mental health may not be able to handle their work, which is not true. I like how this article has a Myths vs. Facts section that includes this. This article also shares that 1 in 5 adults experience mental health problems each year. Anxiety disorders being the most common of mental health disorders. You never know what someone has going on in their life, so it is important to keep that in mind as we interact with each other. Be kind and understanding, by doing so you could help make that persons day brighter. #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters

As much as we should be working hard to achieve our goals, I believe that it is very important to take a step back occasionally to check in on our mental health. This article talks about the possibility of people putting the blame on a disorder when faced with problems, in order to avoid acknowledging the underlying problem. It is important to strike a balance and avoid over-medicalising mental health issues, but at the same time, to not trivialise such issues.
Increased mental health awareness is undoubtedly a positive step. But are we over-medicalising the symptoms? Psychiatrist Jared Ng weighs in.
