Staying on the topic of hand-crafted SVGs, here is a line chart that I recently built for a project at work. It presents the history of scores over time, where scores range from 1 to 10. The SVG is dynamically generated server-side based on the set of scores being presented. I describe the heart of the logic in a comment at the top of the CodePen: https://lnkd.in/dK7r_uxx No need to pull in a JS-heavy charting library and no restrictions on rendering the chart itself. It was easy for me to color grade the rows because there was no intermediate abstraction that might prevent me. It was similarly easy to style each score point precisely as wanted. Plus, by hand-crafting the SVG, I was able to optimize the SVG to be more easily dynamically rendered based on a specific collection of scores. Then, being server rendered with no JS dependency means that the chart will always render and render fast. And I am no master of SVGs. I am using only very basic elements here; basically all rectangles and lines. But, with a firm control over the basics, a wide range of possibilities open up.

A City in a Bottle: Javascript code that renders a 3D (ray casting) tracking-shot through a city with this code: <canvas style=width:99% id=c onclick=setInterval('for(c.width=w=99,++t,i=6e3;i--;c.getContext`2d`.fillRect(i%w,i/w|0,1-d*Z/w+s,1))for(a=i%w/50-1,s=b=1-i/4e3,X=t,Y=Z=d=1;++Z<w&(Y<6-(32<Z&27<X%w&&X/9^Z/8)*8%46||d|(s=(X&Y&Z)%3/Z,a=b=1,d=Z/w));Y-=b)X+=a',t=9)> You can try it e.g. on CodePen, just past the above code into the HTML-Box and then click the output window/section. It's not Artificial Intelligence(AI) - it's Human Intelligence(HI) 😊
