📢 Important Update 📢 The Council has recently published a set of social media house rules, to make sure everyone feels able to have their say while remaining on topic. Our social media channels feature a variety of information from our services and partners, keeping residents and the public informed and up to date with what the authority is doing. We want our social media channels to be a place for healthy, open, and insightful discussion and information sharing, which is why we have a short set of house rules. We’re asking all users to stick to our rules, which you can find on our website here: https://lnkd.in/ewbWBCzP We value feedback and constructive criticism about all Council services, and we value everyone’s right to the freedom of speech, whilst remaining on topic. Please be polite and offer us the same level of courtesy that we offer you. Feel free to share your thoughts respectfully but we will remove comments which break the rules. In very limited circumstances we may block users who repeatedly break the rules. #runnymede #socialmedia #socialmediamanagement

Big shifts are happening in the digital world, with the major online hangouts stepping back from news, and honestly, it’s opening up some pretty cool chances for the news folks. They’ve got this golden ticket now to mix things up, find new ways to share their stories, and really get in there with their readers. Time to toss the old playbook and dive into different spaces, keeping that audience hooked and hungry for more. Social media used to be the go-to for clicks and views, but this change-up? It’s a blessing, really, giving publishers the chance to get creative and keep those connections with readers strong. They’ve got this; they can make their stories pop and build something awesome with their community. All in all, it’s a wild time in the digital world, but for news outlets? It’s all about grabbing this chance, getting creative, and making sure they keep serving up the good stuff to their readers.

Social media's influence cannot be understated—it shapes juror perceptions and can impact case outcomes. The blend of rapid news spread and algorithm-driven content can create biases and misinformations, often reinforcing existing beliefs rather than providing balanced views. ⚖️ A significant insight from the Reuters Institute's Digital News Report 2024 reveals that 77% of respondents across 47 countries primarily access news online, with social media overtaking direct news site visits. This shift highlights the critical role social media plays in shaping public opinion and information dissemination. 🚫 Beware of the dual-edged nature of social media: this environment can foster "echo chambers" that amplify partial narratives. It's also reminder to be cautious and strategic about your social media presence. What you post, share, or endorse can significantly influence public and client perceptions. Ensure your contributions are informed, responsible, and enhance your professional integrity. The use of social media by government agencies is poised for rapid acceleration. As digital natives become a larger segment of the population, there will be increasing pressure on the public sector to meet citizens where they are - on social platforms. Government organizations that effectively leverage social media can reap substantial benefits such as improved communication, elevated citizen engagement, and more cost-effective feedback loops. By embracing social media strategically, the public sector can foster transparency, build trust, and deliver services more responsively to constituents' needs. #HHSIT #GovCommunications #CitizenEngagement
