After a conversation with Google Cloud VP and GM for databases, Andi Gutmans, about the transformational impact on customers of the multi-cloud partnership between Google Cloud and Oracle, I extracted what I believe are 10 specific customer benefits that this partnership is going to generate in this Acceleration Economy #CloudWars minute. https://lnkd.in/gpniQxnm

The biggest benefit in my opinion for Google Cloud Customers is they’ll now be able to connect their apps to run the worlds most powerful and popular “converged” AI database, #OracleDatabase, autonomously, running on the most powerful, most scalable, most available and secure database system in the world, #Exadata!

Good points Bob Evans - I think Oracle maybe missed a trick by putting in a step to negotiate an OCI contract direct with Oracle before the Oracle DBs are made available on GCP as it will prevent some (if not the majority) of App Developers who might consider using a new Oracle deployment when developing a new app on GCP as they will not want to involve procurement, negotiate a contract etc when they can just go an spin up Spanner or an Opensource DB using the existing GCP agreement their company has in place. (I am assuming this first step of negotiating and OCI contract with Oracle is there for GCP as it is for Oracle DB @ Azure) . Maybe they will evolve the offering over time to help with this situation, Oracle does need to expand into this space to capture more of the new DB market

Love this!! Thx for sharing! It combines the best of both worlds: Oracle's robust database solutions and Google's innovative cloud services, providing greater flexibility, scalability, and performance for enterprises. Additionally, the partnership helps reduce egress and ingress charges on data transfers making it more cost-effective for enterprises to move and manage their data.

Good points Bob, I’m confused by the OCI licensing practice though. Their credits don’t end up being universal.
