A2H2 offers quality healthcare and wellness services and raises awareness on all issues surrounding health and poverty. Without prioritizing health, poverty will always be perpetuated. We speak on the parallels of poverty and health. Educating the vulnerable creates the possibility of true freedom. A2H2 believes that by holistically addressing healthcare, marginalized communities will begin to realize that they too can thrive and experience a reality that exist devoid of purely “surviving”.

Soon there will be a General Election. The UK has a historic chance to be the best place in the world to grow up. But right now, there are more babies going without health visitors. More children growing up in poverty. And more young people waiting months on a mental health waiting list. We must make sure the next Government does more to make good childhoods a national priority. To make this happen, today we have joined with over 100 organisations to support the #ChildrenAtTheTable campaign. We know that asking for transformational change such as this takes a collective effort. That’s why we’ve joined together. It’s also why we’re asking you to join us! Our state’s most vulnerable populations face numerous barriers, including continued Covid-related disruption, high food costs and food and housing insecurity. That’s why the smallest setback can lead to crisis. In working with our partners at Yale’s SEICHE Center for Health and Justice, we know that there are numerous pathways by which poverty and income volatility can worsen chronic health conditions, including food insecurity, housing instability, chronic stress, barriers to medication adherence and underutilization of primary care. Worsening chronic disease is also in a negative feedback loop associated with worsening financial opportunities. Kudos to the State for its efforts to reduce medical debt for residents whose medical debt equals 5% or more of their annual income up to 400% of the federal poverty line. https://lnkd.in/gPnMvSSv

Poverty and destitution have a serious impact on both physical and mental health. Evidence shows that psychological distress can contribute to cardiovascular disease and premature death. Disabled people and those on insecure incomes are more reliant on Universal Credit. And the waiting period can drive people into debt and destitution. Research from Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) suggests that the Essentials Guarantee would lift around 1.8 million people out of poverty altogether, including 600,000 children. As part of our Community manifesto for health justice, we call upon the next government to introduce the Essentials Guarantee and address the impact of the five week wait period for Universal Credit. ⬇ Read more about all our asks for the new government https://lnkd.in/dcqfEz9T
