Anthropic just released their new Claude 3.5 Sonnet model. The company promises better "intelligence" and 2x the speed of the older Claude 3 Sonnet: https://lnkd.in/djj_UHpS I decided to try the model on the webpage title generation task that closely resembles the capabilities we are looking for in our Tech Research team at profiq, since these days we are looking into web and QA automation. In this case we compare different models by measuring their outputs with an expected title provided by us. We observed a noticeable improvement. Claude 3.5 Sonnet has an average similarity of 0.63, while the older version has an average similarity of about 0.60 (the leader is still GPT4o with average similarity of 0.67). I am a bit unsure about the claims about speed. We repeated the test several times and the average response time was actually slightly higher compared to the older version. Maybe there is just too much interest in the model at the moment? I am not sure. #ai #anthropic #gpt #claude #openai #genai

The new Anthropic AI model Claude 3.5 Sonnet zoomed to the top of the large lang model leaderboard less than a week after release - what I missed at first glance when reviewing the launch release (source: https://lnkd.in/ehwV8QYd) was this line: 😮 "Our aim is to substantially improve the trade-off curve between intelligence, speed, and cost every few months. To complete the Claude 3.5 model family, we’ll be releasing Claude 3.5 Haiku and Claude 3.5 Opus later this year." Given Opus was so far ahead of the pack on release, the thought of an Opus 3.5 is scary given how much better Sonnet 3.5 is vs its predecessor on industry benchmarks! ➡️ We're shipping Sonnet 3.5 as STANDARD in all AI builds from now on. Also, Sonnet 3.5 is VERY good at writing 🖋️🖋️🖋️ - "It shows marked improvement in grasping nuance, humor, and complex instructions, and is exceptional at writing high-quality content with a natural, relatable tone."

I spent some time this weekend experimenting with Anthropic's newly released Claude 3.5 sonnet, and I have to say I was pretty impressed. To be honest, I've been considering giving up my Claude subscription in recent weeks, and I'm glad I didn't. Here are a few things I liked: ☑ EXCELLENT writing skills, probably the best out there for an LLM, based on my experience ☑ Finally, Claude has 'vision' capabilities (it can see and transcribe text even from low-quality images) ☑ Exceptional reasoning, skills, and what seems to be a very solid knowledge base ☑ It is lightning-fast, and its responses seem to show an excellent grasp of language nuances, along with a bit of personality and a sense of humour! ☑VERY good at processing complex multi-step prompts 'Mid' but with potential: Anthropic also introduced Artifacts, which lets you see what's being generated in a window beside your prompt. Unfortunately, it's still limited for a few things I was trying out, but I love the concept of a collaborative work environment, and it will get better and more user-friendly soon. Anthropic claims Claude 3.5 Sonnet beats GPT-4o in performance across most tasks. This trend suggests that the best-in-class models will only be partially better than the next best and the gap is going to narrow going forward to a point where for most outcomes, the difference of quality won’t matter. The key competitive advantage no longer lies in the base AI models themselves. Foundational models are not the moat. Doubling down on my earlier take, a platform that can provide reliable abstraction over these models ensuring that developers spend most of their time building user features and not optimizing prompts for every update to the foundational model might emerge as a winner in this value chain.
