Hi everyone, I’m at Harvard! How exciting is that!!! 🙌🏻 I’m attending the Harvard WECode: Women Engineers Code Conference that is organized by the Harvard undergraduate students for women engineers to enhance networking and collaboration opportunities. We had an amazing workshop by Morgan Young and Skyler Basco 🎀 to help us optimise our LinkedIn profiles and as an introvert I feel like it is important to have a platform where I can share my thoughts without having to be “out there” and yet be a part of the discussion. I would like to share the advice we got from the talented hosts to share my experience: 1. Filtering with keywords like open <job role> and under 10 applicants positions will help you apply to the most relevant jobs 2. Post consistently with your thoughts and optimise your LinkedIn profiles with the skills that are most valuable 3. Contribute to collaborative articles with least contributions to have the Top Voices badge and stand out 4. Focus on endorsements and recommendations from the people you’ve worked with I’m glad to attend this event with my new friend Eliza Vardanyan 💕

What ultimately made you decide to choose a career in consulting? This was one of many questions I answered this afternoon on the Doctoral and Postdoc Consulting Job Panel at my alma mater NYU. I shared more about my career path and what led me to consulting and starting The Pivotal Group. I appreciated the opportunity to share the stage with you, Laura Murray and Anthony Bainor. Special thanks to the facilitator, Kelly Graham, for guiding the discussion. #NYU #Doctorate #Career #Consulting

This post speaks to my People Leader soul! The natural tendency to hook hiring decisions to credentials and prior experience is one I observe all too often. If we shift our mindset and allow character/values alignment and learning agility to be a driving factor, I truly believe we’d see great outcomes. #recruitment #hiringdecisions #growthmindset #mindsetshift
Chief People Officer ---> Helping companies build their platform for exceptional human + business performance
50% of New Hires Fail Why? Because our recruiting practices are seriously flawed. Most hiring managers are looking for two things - credentials and prior experience. ▶ Debunking the credentials myth: In a study of over 28,000 students, those who attended higher-ranking universities performed only slightly better than their peers on consulting projects. A Yale student was just 1.9% better than a Cleveland State student. ▶ Debunking the prior experience myth: In a meta-analysis of 44 studies with over 11,000 people across a wide range of jobs, prior work experience had virtually no bearing on performance. So, what does make a difference? 🔆 Character and learning ability. ▶ If our hiring practices aren't designed to discover a person's character or learning agility (how well they learn), we're missing out on the talent that has the potential for excellence. Industry vets: what key lessons or words of wisdom can you share with those looking at career options in materials/engineering after grad school? For those grad students or recently graduated (but still not ensconced in a career): what questions do you have? I'm joining a panel on career options after grad school at the 2023 MRS (Materials Research Society) meeting tomorrow and I'm curious what my network suggests are important points to consider. Would love to share a bit of the crowd wisdom. I have the privilege of working every day with incredibly talented scientists and engineers who explored options outside the traditional pathways in academia. It's always amazing to see how our teams apply the fundamental knowledge acquired in those long dissertation years to practical, real-world problems facing our clients. Would love to hear more about how you apply your grad work, particularly if you've left your specific dissertation topic / area and are working on other things.

This amazing speech 🎙️ of Steve Jobs at Stanford University reminds us everyday big #lessons in life. I stay with this: 1️⃣ Connecting the #Dots: he stressed the idea that life's experiences, even seemingly unrelated ones, can #connect in meaningful ways later on. #Trust that your path will become clear in hindsight. 2️⃣ #Love and #Loss: He shared his own experience of getting fired from Apple, emphasizing how it was a painful setback at the time but led to new opportunities, such as founding NeXT and Pixar. 3️⃣ Follow Your #Passion: Jobs encouraged graduates to pursue what they love, as he believed that passion is essential for success and happiness in life. 4️⃣ The Importance of #Death: He discussed his own cancer diagnosis and emphasized how the #awareness of mortality can be a powerful #motivator to live life to the fullest. 5️⃣ Stay #Hungry, Stay #Foolish: Jobs encouraged graduates to remain #curious, take #risks, and not be afraid of making mistakes. He advocated for a mindset of continuous #learning and daring to be different. These principles continue to inspire us to follow our #dreams, embrace #setbacks, and remain #open to new opportunities and experiences. #stevejobs #apple #stories #inspirations #leadership #human
Remembering Steve Jobs who left us 12 years ago, an individual that has inspired us all. This is probably one of Jobs’ best speeches at Stanford's graduation in 2005.
