Data is about to be deleted forever. It's getting real! Not sure what to do? Frieking out? Spoiler Alert: Keep reading....solution below. As part of the transition to Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google announced that they will be permanently deleting the old Analytics accounts (Universal Analytics), along with all of the historical data that has been accumulated. Last July, Google stopped processing data into these properties and now they will be permanently deleting all of the historical data. From the moment these accounts are deleted, the only analytical data that will be available to your business is that which lies in GA4 (which was likely implemented only in mid-late 2023). To illustrate, you will no longer have the ability to answer basic questions such as the amount of visitors from paid social in 2022, conversion rates by traffic channels in 2021 or Average order value of a specific collection during a Sale in 2019. In short, all historical data will be wiped away overnight. Unfortunately, a backup into excel is not an option for two main reasons: For the most accurate data, each report needs to be downloaded per day, which takes a tremendous amount of time. Additionally, it is just not possible to analyze data by scouring through thousands of rows of an excel. So, what is the solution? The solution is to properly back up the data into a 1st party data warehouse, organize it, and display it via easy to read dashboards. At Dataworks, we have prepared for this moment and worked to develop tools and dashboards that will make the process simple and cost-efficient. This includes storing the data, preparing it for easy retrieval at any point in the future and creation of dashboards to present the data in a similar manner to which you have grown accustomed to viewing it in the Google Analytics platform. Interested in backing up your company's data? Want to offer this service to your clients? Feel free to reach out to me directly in LinkedIn or via email: avi@dataworks.co.il Time is ticking...

A project I’ve been working on since the start of this year. As a digital marketer, Google’s decision to move to GA4 has been nothing but extra work. A lot of our clients at Fastrack Digital require a YoY report, and I have always had to combine and compare the data manually on Excel each month. The other worrying aspect is that our dependence to Google on storing our digital marketing data. Google has announced to delete UA on the 1st of July 2024, and has left us confused on how we can still access it without having to download gigabytes worth of .csv documents. This also sparks the conversation within our team, how do we become less reliant on Google? Fastrack Digital decided to delve into the world of data warehousing. We have set up an API connection from all of our digital marketing platforms (not only Google Analytics) that then feeds into a data visualisation tool for us to build our own customised dashboard. Here are the benefits of data warehousing: - You own your own data - Have more freedom on how you want to visualise your data - Combine all of your digital marketing report into one dashboard (yes, including emails, social media and SEO) - Blend your UA & GA4 data for a seamless reporting experience Contact me or Adrian Caruso if you’d like to learn more about this!
