4wAll corporations proudly claim diversity, yet how many take it seriously? How many corporations can actually enforce the best of human ideals. AutoZone cannot. It is an agglomeration of satellite stores, each of which is a handful of people run by what AutoZone calls a "ship's captain".... And this leads to uncontrollable microcultures. I personally ran into this in the Pittsburgh region, as a semi-retirement to manage a store. AutoZone was ecstatic, especially with me being a veteran.... But there is one missing element.... They needed me to vote for Trump and proclaim it proudly. The pressure was daily, and often was with shouting, not at me, but at every "lib". I'm neither party, and most often vote for third party for president and all over the board for everything else. As a veteran, I feel I've earned my right to vote how I want, even though we all should have that right. The Pittsburgh region, including its district manager and overseeing regional manager disagree. Now, they wanted me to move up in the ranks because of my experience and what I can bring to the inventory management, which would be a puzzle I would like... They even gave me an "exception" for not committing, as long as I kept it secret
