FEATURE - THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF EMPLOYEE EXPECTATIONS In a rather sobering statistic, it is estimated that the average person spends 90,000 hours of their lives working! No surprise then that employee expectations extend beyond free tea and coffee in the workplace, though the importance and benefits of offering a good (and free!) cuppa should never be underestimated! And as technological advancements and cultural shifts are fundamentally changing working culture and habits at a faster rate than ever before, with many of these greatly expedited by the pandemic, it is clear that employers will need to do more to attract and retain the best talent. Amid this ever-changing landscape in which flexible and hybrid working has increasingly become the norm, and with heightened employees’ expectations around their work experiences, especially when it comes to company values and employer actions on ESG and DEI issues, having some sort of barometer as to what employees and prospective candidates are thinking is absolutely essential for businesses’ attraction and retention strategies.
