No wonder the market for scrum masters/agile roles is tanking.... 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦.
Whilst doing some market research for our Software Delivery Platform, Mission Control, I came across this reddit post in the /r/agile forum. I was completely gobsmacked by it's content.
In it, someone poses the question:
"𝘾𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙊𝙀 (𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙮) 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙪𝙢 𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧."
For those (sensible, moral and responsible individuals) who have no idea what over employ means.. It is where someone is employed by multiple organisations at the same time, doing the same role. Neither of those organisations being aware of this arrangement.
In this post there is a pretty consistent response saying it is possible to do this !
I have been a scrum master, know many exceptional scrum masters. I respect the job, but the reality is that the market is now radically shifting due to the high level of agile maturity in many organisations. It seems like there is now a strong push towards Engineering Managers & expert delivery managers that bring skills and experience from multiple disciplines (including good project management practice).
Food for thought for those with agile centric roles that are considering their next step in their career... Please feel free to post up your thoughts.
