The role US Border Patrol plays in rescues does not get nearly enough attention - with both Border Patrol agents and the dedicated BORSTAR team conducting rescues in some of harshest and deadliest terrain in the country. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has already conducted 3600 rescues to date as of May FY2024 - and we are proud to support this - and the entirety - of the Border Patrol mission!
The U.S. Border Patrol conducts a large number of #humanitarianaid and #searchandrescue missions within the border region. The Last Mile recently sat down with former U.S. Border Patrol Chief, Carla Provost, to learn more about these missions and why communications are vital to the health and safety of #lawenforcement personnel.

Well said Sir. The US Border Patrol’s BORSTAR team does not get enough credit for the their work. Many will claim that the Border Patrol’s strategy causes individuals to cross through desolate areas, but the reality is smugglers choose the crossing location. Thank you for supporting these well trained agents with the communications capabilities they need!

🎖️ Today, we commemorate a significant moment of valor in the history of the U.S. Border Patrol. On this day, Agents Jorge Arballo and Forrest J. Mauldin exhibited extraordinary bravery and selflessness, earning them the prestigious Newton-Azrak Award.
In 1994, amidst a dangerous operation involving the interception of narcotics smugglers near the All American Canal, these agents encountered a life-threatening situation. Despite the perilous conditions - strong winds, cold temperatures, and a treacherous current - their focus shifted from law enforcement to a dire humanitarian rescue.
🌊 Faced with the sight of an individual struggling for life in the frigid waters, Agents Arballo and Mauldin did not hesitate. Their courageous actions led to the rescue of a person at risk of drowning, demonstrating a remarkable dedication to preserving human life, transcending the immediate scope of their law enforcement duties.
This act of valor serves as a profound reminder of the multifaceted responsibilities and the depth of commitment exhibited by those who protect our borders. It highlights the humanity and courage that define our Border Patrol agents.

#Hyperreality, as defined by #Baudrillard, refers to a state in which reality and simulations of reality become indistinguishable, blurring the boundaries between what is real and what is not. In the context of images depicting chaos and Haitians immigrants, hyperreality suggests that the representations of these events in media and popular culture may create a perception of reality that is distorted or exaggerated, leading to a disconnection from the actual experiences of those involved. These images, while based on real events, may be manipulated or sensationalized in a way that amplifies the sense of chaos and crisis, contributing to the construction of a hyperreal environment where the lines between truth and fiction are blurred.
1. Border Security Concerns: The images of Haitian immigrants attempting to cross the border illegally will likely heighten existing concerns about border security. Voters may perceive these incidents as indicative of a broader failure to secure the border, leading to increased calls for stricter enforcement measures such as increased border patrols, enhanced physical barriers, and more stringent immigration policies.
2. Political Messaging: Politicians, particularly those in Texas and other border states, may use these images as a platform to advance their political agendas. Candidates who advocate for tough border control measures could gain support from voters who are alarmed by the influx of illegal immigrants. Conversely, others may emphasize humanitarian concerns and the need for compassionate immigration reform, appealing to voters who prioritize empathy and human rights.
3. Impact on Public Opinion: The vivid imagery of Haitian immigrants facing off against law enforcement at the border can sway public opinion on immigration-related issues. Some voters may sympathize with the immigrants' plight and advocate for more lenient immigration policies, while others may feel a sense of urgency to address what they perceive as a crisis situation and demand stricter border controls.
4. Economic and Social Dynamics: Beyond security concerns, the presence of large numbers of undocumented immigrants can also impact local economies and social dynamics. Voters may consider the strain on public resources, such as healthcare, education, and social services.
5. International Relations: The response to the Haitian migrant crisis may also have implications for U.S. foreign relations, particularly with Haiti and other countries in the region. How the U.S. government handles the situation, including decisions on deportation, asylum, and humanitarian aid, can shape perceptions of the United States abroad and impact diplomatic relations with countries involved. Voters may consider these broader geopolitical implications when evaluating political candidates and their positions on immigration.

Would you rather defend or interdict on our own border or someone's else?
I suspect if there was an actual plan (short and long term) developed...along with Border Patrol...we would seal the southern border, deter future illegal crossings, hit the cartels with decisive engagements on land and at sea and nip this invasion in the bud.
Questions: Should we even consider deploying our military? What would you plan? What kind of ROE? Active force or a mix with National Guard?

STRENGTHENING INDIA'S BORDER SECURITY
Addressing emerging challenges head-on, India is taking strategic measures to protect a vital lifeline—the Siliguri Corridor, a critical link connecting the north-eastern states with the nation.
Recent developments in Bhutan involving China have prompted India to deploy a combined force of the Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) along the entirety of this corridor. This proactive action is a response to heightened border tensions, China's territorial aspirations, and India's overarching defense strategies.
Popularly known as the 'Chicken Neck', the Siliguri Corridor is not just a geographical link but also an embodiment of connectivity and unity for our northeastern states. With the strategic placement of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel along this corridor, India is intensifying its defensive capabilities, ensuring the security of this indispensable passageway.
The corridor's inherent vulnerability makes this comprehensive deployment essential. This resolute decision underscores our unwavering dedication to national security and the preservation of territorial integrity. The ongoing border standoff and unfolding events in Bhutan have catalyzed this pivotal undertaking.

Regrettably our lustrous leadership has fueled this mess by not developing and implementing a reasonably functional plan of action to control migration on our southern boarder. However you perceive how we got here, it requires a coherent intelligent solution....which both parties should have worked collectively to ensure this was mitigated! #innovation#management#Future#continuity
