Meetings are the number one barrier to productivity. It’s not just the volume of meetings that harms efficiency, but what happens in them: the struggle to speak up, the repetition of information and that lingering thought, “Could this have just been an email?” A staggering 72% of meetings are found to be ineffective. Despite this, companies still default to meetings. Loom has changed my routine, with async videos replacing many of my meetings. Turns out, I'm part of a growing trend – a whopping 77 million Looms were recorded in 2023. Loom isn’t my only strategy for reclaiming time on my calendar. I also weave in pre-reads, set clear agendas, and kick off meetings 5 minutes past the hour. This gives me a moment to breathe, take notes and transition between discussions. These small adjustments have been game-changers for me. For more tips, check out the report. https://lnkd.in/gWMZ3-fi
The average meeting time in Roam's just 8 minutes!
Setting a clear agenda and therefore being able to prepare for a meeting is such a win for everyone! In the era of distributed teams, it really is the bare minimum for increased collaboration, at the same time showing respect and empathy towards your co-workers. If there's no agenda, what value is the meeting supposed to bring? Time is the most valuable asset we all have, let's use it wisely 🙏
Had the opportunity of using Loom to talk to my team for the first time. The way I explained Loom to someone is that it is enterprise TikTok or Reel :)
I love using Loom for async sharing and interactions. Another strategy I’ve found useful in making meetings more efficient is declaring upfront clearly what type of meeting we are having and the desired outcome. Are we workshopping, making decisions or informing. The latter one should ideally be always a Loom or email 😄
Loom removes the looming angst from meetings and makes them more productive as it gives a head start. Agree :)
Absolutely, meetings can often hinder productivity more than they enhance it. Finding the right balance between collaboration and efficient communication is key.
I agree 100%. The meetings drain you with ineffective communication and courtesy protocols. Not to mention low amount of decision making
A few weeks back, Abhishek from your support team sent me a loom update on my ticket. It clearly demonstrated the fix in action while keeping his profile at the bottom of the screen, making the update personal, to the point, and so effective. I love it!
Love Loom! Especially for global/hybrid teams. I find that video allows leaders to be more “human” as well vs email/Slack.

4moI'm not sure why it took me so long, but as of about 3 weeks ago, I've starting replacing every meeting or long, written message possible with either a Loom video or an audio clip. I've found that it leads to more uninterrupted work and more productive meetings. Just throwing a meeting on the calendar whenever I have a topic to discuss is a hard habit to break, but worth the effort to overcome!
