🔊New community grant funding to reach more local groups. ➡️Local community and voluntary groups will now benefit from a new Tamworth Borough Council Councillor Grant Scheme. ➡️Councillor Community Grants, Festive Grants and Environmental Grants, are now combined into one Councillor Grant Fund, where councillors can award a minimum of £250 to a maximum of £1,000. ➡️Each ward councillor will be granted £1,000 each year from April 2024, to distribute as grants for the benefit community and voluntary groups. This scheme replaces three separate grant schemes, to enable councillors to recommend larger grant awards. ➡️The grants will allow for councillors to work with community groups all year-round to address community challenges, environmental issues, or festive assistance. STV's Payback series put the spotlight on Scotland's Community Right to Buy. But what does this mean? The legal framework, born from the Land Reform (Scotland) Act of 2003, lets communities register interest in buying land, ensuring it's offered to them before others. Initially rural-focused, it now covers urban and rural properties. The key to this process if forming a community body dedicated to sustainable development. Once registered, the community gains the right to buy the land if the owner sells within five years, extendable upon application. Exercising this right is complex, involving negotiations, community ballots, and meeting stringent criteria for approval by the Scottish Ministers. Discover our comprehensive guide, simplifying the steps and impacts of the Community Right to Buy 👉 https://lnkd.in/erKrYUWu

Please read and share our Insights report on working in partnership! 🤜 🤛 The funding system is currently set up to make us all focus on what makes us different and special, instead of what we have in common, or what we need from others. In contrast, the learning in this report shows the inherent flexibility of social organisations. 🤸♀️ The organisations we fund are brilliant at making new partnerships and adapting to them in a way that corporate or public sector organisations are not. As a sector, collaborating could be our superpower. 🏋♀️
We're pleased to share our latest Insights report on Making Partnerships Work 🤝 The report shares learning and advice from organisations we fund on working in partnership including Drive Forward Foundation Green Alliance Committee on the Administration of Justice North West Migrants Forum Northern Roots Urban Farm & Eco-Park. And includes links to key resources from Take Note Tamarack Institute for Community Engagement Institute For Voluntary Action Research High Trees Community Development Trust Rising Arts Agency CIC and The Change Agency. The report also makes two things clear: 1️⃣ It takes more time, effort, and money to work in partnership 2️⃣ The funding system is not well set up to support partnership working Read the report: https://lnkd.in/e-dJr4pD Huge thanks to everyone who shared their valuable insights and have generously shared resources 🙌
