Australia has a renewables vision!! And I like it.⏬ The 2024 Integrated System Plan (ISP) by AEMO outlines a comprehensive approach to integrate diverse renewable energy sources into Australia's electricity grid. The goal? To enhance grid reliability and achieve sustainability targets. KRISCON believes that adopting such systematic and integrated approaches is key to unlocking sustainable energy investments. David Leitch at RenewEconomy has provided some important insights into the size of the opportunity in the South West Renewable Energy Zone in NSW. As he points out, the region is capable of supporting a significantly larger REZ (in MW) than currently forecast. Why? ✅Highly supportive community ✅Represents the “transmission junction” of Project Energy Connect, HumeLink and VNI West (we like to say that if you threw a dart into the NEM it would land on Dinawan) ✅Excellent wind speeds (materially higher than originally posed by AEMO’s 2022 ISP and draft 2024) ✅Solar irradiance is outstanding. We have always had a high conviction relating to this REZ, and we invested early in our two projects, Dinawan Energy Hub, which is positioned on the key Dinawan substation, and Mallee Energy Hub, on the far west side of the REZ. At that time this REZ was considered inferior to the others, and we are pleased to see it progress more rapidly now. As David points out, the opportunity is far greater – there are a number of other serious, well credentialled developers in the REZ who take community engagement seriously and are passionate about their projects, and we would be happy to collaborate with key stakeholders to unlock the full potential of this fantastic region. The key really comes down to transmission links all the way from Dinawan to Sydney, not just Humelink through to Bannaby Substation. The New South Wales government and Origin Energy have come to an agreement to postpone the Eraring Power Station’s closure, delaying it from its original schedule of 2025 to 2027 but also leaving a window to extend until 2029 if needed. This is part of the NSW government’s strategy to improve energy reliability and reduce price volatility while pushing the renewable energy transition forward. Read “Eraring Power Station to remain operational until 2027, possibly 2029” to learn more about the government’s chosen approach and the complexities involved in transitioning from fossil fuels to renewables here: https://zurl.co/yiua #eraringpowerstation #powerstationclosure #coalpowerstation #renewableenergyaustralia #renewableenergytransition #energymanagementconsultants #leadingedgeenergy

👏LDES Council’s CEO Julia Souder, and chair of the Global Renewables Alliance, took the Plenary Stage at the IRENA Assembly to discuss the tripling of renewables. 💬“The conversations today have been focusing on action.” Said Souder, “We’ve seen over the past 22 years how much the renewable energy sector has continued to shatter records, and just last year, we had 36% of record surging renewable capacity, but we all still need to do a lot more.” 🤝Collaboration is not just a strategy but a necessity to deploy the target of 11 TW by 2030. The #Time4Action is now to step up partnerships with governments to address supply chains, financing, and to expedite planning and permitting. 🖥️ Watch the full stream here: bit.ly/49Lkvr0
