New placement of a senior attorney last week! 🎉 While I'm not posting about each/every placement, please recall that if you're an attorney or employer in the US who might appreciate working with a high-quality external attorney recruiter, I'm happy to connect. I aim for the most logical/targeted direct-hire (permanent-type) placements of junior, mid-level, and senior US attorneys. Hey everyone, sorry for the "perhaps not precise enough" post where old recruiters like me debated whether there are exclusive associate jobs. The main point I was trying to make was don't trust bad marketing emails and cold calls claiming "exclusive jobs." Take vetting seriously and be careful giving out your resume. Enough said. Now let's talk about some recent star level recruiting by the Whistler Partners team! Recently, recruiting Maestro Josh Bilgrei performed a magic trick and CREATED a job out of thin air. Stellar candidate who wanted sports. Great relationship with partner in sports. Made intro. Match making ensued. The man behind the man, Shogun Jordan Rosenberg just got a junior EC/VC associate 2 interviews by pinging partners at firms with openings in other cities. Where there's smoke, there's fire, and if firms will let associates work remotely, maybe they are open to someone working out of a different office. Karen S. Vladeck manages virtually every week to discover yet another awesome litigation boutique that pays close to market and needs a self starter. And Francis Kelly keeps me on my toes by continuing to find former big law partners who are running top notch specialty boutiques with partner level hiring needs. He's truly testing whether I know as much as I think I do. I wish he would just once find a NYC M&A partner with $10 million in portables, but what can you do. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝘁! As has been the case for most of 2023, the legal recruitment market in London has proven to be highly competitive at the associate level. For many roles, hiring partners have had the luxury of choice when it comes to applicants, meaning that the bar for entry is now rather high. Due to this, in my experience, if you are looking to make a move, it is important to move quickly. As soon as a new opportunity goes live, it makes sense to press ahead before the rest of the competition (inevitably) piles in. If you find yourself stalling your search waiting for job descriptions and finer details in relation to a role, you may find yourself missing out. Therefore, if a new opportunity goes live, and at face value it matches up with the main aspects of your search criteria (e.g. type of firm, PQE level, practice area), strike while the iron is hot!
