Amazon Sets New Pace in #Pharmacy Delivery Amazon is stepping up its game in the health sector, now offering same-day prescription deliveries in New York City and Los Angeles. Leveraging its reputation as the ultimate expert in supply chain coordination, efficiency, and economies of scale, Amazon Pharmacy aims to redefine convenience. Initially rolled out in 2020, Amazon Pharmacy is now leveraging new, smaller facilities equipped to rapidly process prescriptions, aiming to provide fast and convenient service. This move is part of Amazon's broader strategy to deliver a wide range of products to customers' doorsteps with unparalleled speed. With plans to extend this service to over a dozen cities by year-end, Amazon's foray into same-day prescription deliveries underscores the evolving dynamics of the pharmacy landscape, where speed and convenience increasingly define the customer experience. As community pharmacies face the dual challenges of aggressive PBM contracting and the rise of mail-order services, Amazon's latest initiative highlights the ongoing shifts in how prescription medications are accessed and delivered, signaling potential impacts on pharmacy operations and patient choices. A recent doctor's visit turned into a revelation. While discussing a new prescription, my phone buzzed – Amazon Pharmacy confirming receipt. Back at the office, another notification: ready for order, even offering same-day delivery. Intrigued, I did just that, and within hours, my medication arrived. Convenient? Absolutely. But more importantly, helpful. This positive experience isn't unique. My partner and friends have echoed similar sentiments about Amazon Pharmacy's speed and reliability. This extends beyond personal stories. Amazon Pharmacy prioritizes accessible prescriptions for all. Prime members already enjoy free one-day and two-day delivery, and now, New York City and Los Angeles residents can leverage free Same-Day Delivery. This service is rapidly expanding, aiming to reach over a dozen US cities by year-end. Witnessing the impressive technology and logistics behind this program at Amazon's Phoenix and Brooklyn facilities solidified my appreciation. From generative AI to advanced robotics, the dedicated Amazon teams are transforming the pharmacy experience, making a real difference in people's lives.

💊 How can your pharmacy stay ahead of the game against Amazon? It all boils down to one word: convenience. Meet Amazon’s pharmacy - Amazon Rx! 👩⚕️ . . . . . . Just like customers can buy goods and services on Amazon, healthcare visits are now a part of its catalogue too. 🩺 Customers can get appointments for 30 common problems, and get prescriptions through Amazon Rx. 🏥 This places Amazon in competition with services like Teladoc Health and Amwell, which were down 6% on Tuesday following Amazon’s announcement. 📉 But this isn’t Amazon’s first foray into the healthcare sector — it already has several failures to its name, including Haven, its joint effort with Berkshire Hathaway, and Amazon Care, which was for its own employees. 💉 Amazon also acquired OneMedical for $3.9bn, which has New York City's Mount Sinai as a partner health organisation. 💊 "We talk a lot about price, convenience, and selection at Amazon. We've really brought those same principles to Amazon Health," said Amazon Clinic general manager Dr. Nworah Ayogu. ❤️🩹 Liked this article? At Amazon Pharmacy, our mission is to improve accessibility and make getting medication as convenient as possible for everyone. I recently read an inspiring story that highlights just how impactful our service can be. A customer named Cosette shared how Amazon Pharmacy helped her 73-year-old father who lives in a remote area of rural Utah. When Cosette's dad came down with a severe flu, he needed prescription medication but was too ill to make the 45-minute drive to the nearest pharmacy. Living far away, Cosette was worried but couldn't get the medication to her dad herself. They turned to Amazon Pharmacy; Cosette helped her dad sign up on Amazon.com and communicated with the doctor's office to transfer the prescription. Her dad was then able to get his much-needed medication delivered straight to his doorstep, and it included a discount from Prime. For many like Cosette's father, seeking medical care can be challenging, especially in rural areas lacking nearby access. Data shows men are 24% less likely than women to have visited a doctor in the last year. Amazon Pharmacy aims to break down those barriers with simple prescription management and free, convenient delivery. No one should have to choose between driving long distances while ill or going without medication. Stories like Cosette's are why I'm so passionate about the work we're doing at Amazon Pharmacy to make it easier for customers to save time and money on their medications, no matter where they live. #AmazonPharmacy #MensHealthMonth

Walmart may have just changed the pharmacy game, and hardly anyone is talking about it. This week, they announced a staggering $9 BILLION investment in upgrading 1,400 of their stores over the next two years. Most news coverage has focused on the brand’s shift in image, highlighting new flooring, lighting, and other modernizations. But buried in the last paragraph of this CNBC article is the REAL headline for pharmacists: “[stores] will also host bigger pharmacies with private screening rooms for pharmacist consultations and services”. That means 1,400 conveniently-located pharmacies, decked out with private space for clinical services like test-to-treat, launching in the next TWO YEARS. For pharmacies that aren’t offering clinical services, this announcement should be ringing alarm bells. A $9 billion investment in big-chain competition is intimidating, but here’s good news: Scripted pharmacies don’t have to wait two more years to start offering clinical services. And what’s more, Scripted pharmacies offer way more services than the big chains have announced. Launch clinical services at your pharmacy, before the big guys beat you to it: scripted.co/pharmacists Source: https://buff.ly/3QpWyxI

Amazon Pharmacy just announced something that’s likely to be causing fear among a competitors - same day delivery. Now live in New York City, greater Los Angeles, and soon, over a dozen more U.S. cities, this innovative approach is groundbreaking for several reasons: 1. Rapid, Environmentally Friendly Delivery: Leveraging Amazon’s world-class logistics network, the service offers hours-fast delivery using eco-friendly methods like e-bikes, electric vans, and drones, setting a new standard for speed and sustainability in pharmaceutical deliveries. It’s a next level up nod to the old Komso. 2. Enhanced Accessibility and Convenience: By situating small-format pharmacies close to communities and employing AI for faster prescription processing, Amazon Pharmacy significantly reduces wait times. This not only improves accessibility for managing acute conditions from home but also promises better health outcomes by ensuring medications are taken as prescribed. AND THiS is great because mom and pop pharmacies get potentially more business to grow against larger players like Walgreens and CVS. 3. Technology-Driven Efficiency and Care: Amazon Pharmacy is at the forefront of integrating generative AI and robotics into its operations. This technology not only streamlines the prescription fulfillment process but also elevates the role of pharmacists, allowing them to focus more on patient care. By making prescription management quicker and error-free, Amazon Pharmacy is not just changing how medications are delivered; it’s transforming the overall pharmacy experience for customers, making it a model for the future of healthcare logistics.
